The Leeds United starting 11 and bench polls - Right Back

Post by faaip »

This is gonna come thick and fast so don't dilly dally

Gonna skip goalkeeper, it's no competition at the moment, and I'll insert Adams as a cert too as his competition is Gyabi and that vote is only going one way

So poll 1, who starts right back? Choice of 3 here for me folks. Does Ayling win back his satrting spot, would you persevere with Rasmus as he's maybe the future? Drameh has always acquitted himself well when given the chance. I like all three tbh, experience v potential

4 - Adams

Rasmas has to be our future, although I love Ayling who is an able back-up & may need to replace Kristensen if he is out of form or unavailable due to injury/suspensions.

I'll stick with Kristensen for the time being whom didn't appear to be out of his depth against Mbappe & co when Denmark beat the French last week.

I’m going to go with Cody.

LA is coming towards the end and imo Kristensen has been a disappointment so far this season. To an extent his shortcomings have been overlooked/excused as everyone’s focus has been on the LB slot on the other side of the field.

I appreciate it’s a step down in the Championship but Cody was easily Cardiff’s best player last season by all accounts and with a run in the team I think he’d grow into the role. The risk is mistakes being made in that period could cost us. But then Maquire is making mistakes all the time and still gets in the England team 🤔

ATM I’d go with Ayling.
Until we get more points on the board he looks a better fit in attack and defence.
Rasmus or Drameh takes over if it doesn’t last.

I've gone Rasmus as I like continuity across the back line barring injury, suspension etc. By his own admission, it's been harder than he expected, but I like that honesty and he will improve the more he plays and gets used to that step up in quality. Nice to have two able replacements in Bill and Drameh to call on if needs be.

Ayling offers way more attacking threat atm but Ras will ultimately assume the position.

Has to be Kristensen.

Have to look to the future.

We signed him to replace Ayling.

I've gone Rasmus though he needs to raise his game. No one could blame Jesse if he gave Ayling the nod on Sunday, but we need to look to the future and bed in our long-term solution.

Cody should be his main challenger but has to earn the right. Luke is a man possessed at times, and if he keeps the whipper-snappers at bay a while longer so be it.

This ^

Shirley you go with what you consider your best to get points on the board, even if he's coming to the end, you break the new player in gradually, especially when the new player when given the chance through Lukes injury, has shown weakness's that might mean he's shite and possibly not good enough for this level or he needs time to get it right.

Play the newcomer if it's obvious he's gonna better the team as it looks like Sinisterra will, but Rasmus needs breaking in, possibly against lesser opposition (are there any?) or the cup games, or when LA injured.

I feel we need to make a change in the CB position, but it would be crazy too many changes at the back vs Villa, Kristensen gives us height at set-pieces.

Ayling did well for twenty minutes at Brentford, however it's much easier to look impressive when coming on as a sub against tired legs.

Poll was due to end at 9.20, I'm going to add a day to break the tie, if still tied then Muppet will get the deciding vote as it stands. That may change

I’ve just stated on the breakfast debate that I’d play Bill instead of Rasmus versus Villa. He just seems to have more dynamism going forward, Rasmus tends to stunt our attacks by stopping and passing the ball backwards instead of being able to drive past players as Bill so often does. If Rasmus was better than Bill defensively then that would be a consideration, but I don’t think he is even that on his showings so far.

I know Rasmus was brought in with a view to replacing Bill but at the moment he’s not showing that kind of form. I think I would probably put Drameh in second place with Rasmus as 3rd choice. He must have something being a shoe in, it seems, for his National side but, in truth, he has yet to show it for us.

I think we know more about Ayling that just 20 mins against tired legs, Rasmus as looked suspect to say the least in a few games
