Definitely happy with Gracia so far.
He is playing with the same players as Marsch but his tactics are better.

Re: Javi Gracia post Wolves
Well it lead to our first v Wolves

Re: Javi Gracia
Despite the result felt today really showed Javi as a tactically flexible and decent coach.
Lack of quality and stupid mistakes weren't his fault.
And fhe game plan worked well until a dive made it more difficult.
It was a very odd selection
But it kinda worked
On another day we are 1 or 2 up inside the first half an hour and who knows.
Good job Javi

Agree cjay. Javi got this right . We were easily in it and had the better chances . We weren't switched on at the beginning of the 2nd half and we lost it there. Only criticism I have is throwing Rodders on when 3-0 down. The game had gone but he could've got another knock or pulled hammy whatever. Not worth risking with such important games ahead. The next few games will see us sink or swim imo.Cjay wrote:Despite the result felt today really showed Javi as a tactically flexible and decent coach.

The Rodrigo sub was pointless, only small reason would be he needs the minutes.
But was never a game for Rodrigo who needs to be in and around the pen box looking to score or he provides nothing.
To slow to track back and press and do all that.
Game passed him by totally when he came on, can't imagine he touched the ball more than 5 or 6 times.

Re: Javi Gracia
Stateside commentary (Robbie Mustoe) was pretty critical of the selection. Mustoe said that Leeds had left their best players on the bench and were just looking to Tuesday.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 5:22 pm Despite the result felt today really showed Javi as a tactically flexible and decent coach.

Agree and disagree. Rodrigo hasn't started a match since ... ? Bamford can't be expected to start 3 games in a week. McKennie came back from international duty with a fever. And Wober, Adams, and Gnonto all got injured. Under the circumstances, we still fielded as strong a line up as could be expected.
Agree with you that he showed good tactical flexibility. We had the best chances before the penalty. I like the way he used Harrison in midfield. Doesn't show much faith in our back up in midfield when the only outfield players left sitting on the bench were Greenwood, Gyabi, and Gray. He'd rather give Bamford 5 minutes that one of those guys who might be crucial in an area where we are short right now.
Even with the loss I was happy with the set up and happy with the intent. We could have had something out of this game. But it was a also a good run out for players like Strujik, Kristennsen, and Sinisterra. And fitness minutes for Rodrigo and Cooper.

Re: Javi Gracia
Arteta tweaked at HT and and it came off for him.
Arsenal were less direct and were able to pull us out of shape successfully so their late runners into the box could capitalise on the space created.
It worked beautify for them. We were left with one one ones against better players.
Steep learning curve for the boss but the way we had us set up was decent especially with McK and Adams missing.
Lots of six pointers between now and June.

Re: Javi Gracia
Javi is certainly improving things with this squad of players and long may it continue.
Can you imagine that game with Marsch in charge and all those players missing, not a nice thought.

Javi Gracia becomes the first Leeds manager to remain unbeaten in his first three home top-flight games in charge since Allan Clarke in 1980.

Re: Javi Gracia
Maybe this has been mentioned before, but did Javi have the ER pitch put back to its normal width after Marsch narrowed it ?
With the wide players that we have its got to be better for them with more space to operate in. Though having a good manager and tactics helps

Not sure he can tbh, not sure if you have to state dimensions pre season and stick by themGreennWhite wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 10:13 am Maybe this has been mentioned before, but did Javi have the ER pitch put back to its normal width after Marsch narrowed it ?

Jesse definitely had it narrowed, remember reading it somewhere (maybe Phil Hay).GreennWhite wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 10:13 am Maybe this has been mentioned before, but did Javi have the ER pitch put back to its normal width after Marsch narrowed it ?

The linings on the pitch had been moved.
But I don't know if you are allowed to change it mid season
Don't see why not
Having had a Google Premier League pitches are a similar size but not the same and actually can vary by a few metres which is going to make a difference
And you can change the dimensions mid season but only with permission.

Several players coming into a bit of form now. Got to give the manager credit for that.
Blimey, did we hold on to Marsch too long.
