Good luck to Manning. Can't imagine what he's been through and to have been able to put that to one side and take his team to the play-offs is some achievement. Seems a genuine guy as well as being incredibly strong/brave/resilient

Strange bloke the Wendies owner.

Clearly can't afford to own the club.

Refuses to sell

According to reports in January it was mandatory signing if Sunderland were promoted for a fee of £19.23M.

They got him in on loan for the promotion push but whether he's good enough for the PL we'll have to wait and see. He's now become Sunderland's record signing and they had no choice after agreeing to make the transfer permanent as part of the loan deal.

And it's now a Premiership signing. Again 19.3M spent without improving your team on last season

He will get a new job easy enough.

Data is massive in football now and the data for Carrick is really good.

His predicted finishes in his 3 Championship seasons are 3rd,4th and 5th based on data.

He will argue that the player's let him down.

The the board sold 2 of his best players 2 January's running.

Not sure about the love in for Carrick ?

Didn't Farke have to sell his best players as well at times :)

The data (which DF himself loves to mention when it suits) supports Carrick being very unlucky?

And I somehow doubt DF would have coped well had he had his best creator sold in one January (Buendia or Rutter for example).

Or his top goalscorer sold in the other (Piroe or Pukki).

No replacement signed either?

Carrick lost Cameron Archer and was forced to replace him with Sam Greenwood

Hull City have appointed Sergej Jakirovic as their new head coach on a two-year deal.

The 48-year-old Bosnian joins the Championship side after a short spell in charge of Turkish Super Lig outfit Kayserispor.

Former Bosnia defender Jakirovic led Dinamo Zagreb to the Croatian league and cup double in 2023-24.

However, he left Zagreb in September two days after overseeing their heaviest ever defeat, a 9-2 reverse at Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

He is the third appointment at MKM Stadium since Liam Rosenior was sacked in May 2024 after guiding the East Yorkshire side to a seventh-placed finish in the Championship.

Had to Google him.
As a player he played for about 19 clubs in 20 years.
Been a manager since 2017 and Hull are already his 8th job.
Interestingly one of his jobs which was to replace Darko Milanic ( remember him, unfortunately? ) at Maribor.
Not in it for the long term?

I remember driving into Leeds one Saturday lunchtime to pick my mates up en route to a different game.
Going down Meadow Lane just past the ASDA I saw Milanic and the entire team in tracksuits walking back towards ER.
Was his the record worst of our managers, 0 wins out of 6 or the like?
Team bonding obviously didn't work.

Wrexham have signed Plymouth Argyle's Scottish striker Ryan Hardie for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old, who began his career with Rangers, scored 10 goals in the Championship last season as Argyle were relegated to League One.
