Kieran McKenna would be a much more exciting appointment if we want domestic.

Done an exceptional job at Ipswich.

But Angus won't have heard of him so
I was thinking the same thing although Ipswich were helped by Sheff Wed collapsing in the last few weeks of the season.
I think he'll stay at Ipswich for this season though

I bet he has, you do know that Kinnear knows more about football than both you or I?

Absolutely don't want Gerrard, Wilder or Bowyer, not keen on Corboran or Potter. Knutsen? Dunno...

I'm hoping it's somebody impressive who's not on that list.

Cjay wrote: Fri Jun 09, 2023 10:26 pm It's interesting people only see the 2 Championship titles.

They had a 1st season where it was really poor.

They also had Buendia and Pukki playing out of there skin both seasons.

Defensively it's not great

His Championship record works out at 51 goals conceded per season on average.

For comparison last season the top 3 were in the 30s.

Season before 10 teams were below 50 goals.

From reading the Norwich forum there defensive problems under Farke were obvious (to them) but hidden by the overall team and players like Pukki and Buendia.

Both title winning seasons under Farke they massively over performed in terms of xG for or against.

That is down to individuals not the manager.

2nd promotion season they should have conceded 52 goals rather than 36.

1st they should have scored in the 70s for goals scored not the 90s.

When that happens it becomes a concern because that is no longer about a manager doing well, its about talented players stopping goals that should happen or scoring when they shouldn't.
Based on the above:
Ranieri is average - only won the league because Vardy and Kante played out of their skins
Klopp is average - Saleh and Mane played out of their skins
Pep is average - Haaland and Gundogan played out of their skins
Bielsa is average - Bamford and Raph played out of their skins

First of all the Niners need to get a DOF in, and not some clown like Orta.

The new DOF needs to be able to sell our project to our top target.

So, in terms of getting the right coach in, that will largely be dictated by our ability to appoint the right person as DOF.

Over to you Paarag and co.

I can't believe the lovefest for Rodgers. He took a Leicester side down and that side should have been mid table comfortably. It was pure and utter failure so why would we want to hire him?

He did poorly at Watford and Reading. Did well at Swansea. Did okay at Liverpool but they bottled it when the pressure was on. He had decent players, Suarez and Gerrard at their prime. Did well at Celtic but was there during the period when Rangers were recovering from their demotion and weren't their usual force. So he did well in a 2 horse race where the other horse only had 3 legs. At Leicester he has overseen a steady and then dramatic decline.

There's nothing in his CV that really suggests to me that he is anything special and much like his mentor, Jose Mourinho, his best days look behind him.

Kinnear knows more about the business absolutely

Picking managers?
Tactics?
Playing philosophy?

No guarantee on that.

He shouldn't be anywhere near this decision.

But he is.

Has an infinitely better cv than any of the other options.

Not quite lol.

Point being if a team is vastly overperforming it's xG then that is no longer down to the manager.

We underperformed under Bielsa in the Championship incidentally.

Both seasons.

That shows tactics are working but let down by players.

Not scoring when they should etc

For Farke it's the opposite.

Tim Krul was making lots of saves he shouldn't

Pukki was scoring when he shouldn't.

It's a concern when you overperform your xG because the only way you will go is down.

Both seasons in the Prem when Pukki and Buendia and Krul aren't able to perform miracles, Norwich suck and his tactical deficiencies become more obvious.

I don't see why he has so many votes tbh.

It's a bloody awful list let's be honest

Put together by people with a bog standard understanding and knowledge of Football.

It's weird though

49ers told Radz to appoint the best manager he could.

Bielsa

The 49ers have these meh people on there list

Strange

Of the list I like Mckenna, Knutsen, Rodgers, Potter, JDT, Carrick.

I'm not keen on any of the frontrunner at all.

That’s why I went Farke. The “real” list is very small and contains none that I’d want so I went for someone who’s possibly the best of a bad bunch.
I don’t believe the 49ers are going to surprise me and pick a left field gem or a young Kompany type. They are inherently risky so they’ll just play it safe.

Maybe maybe not, but he's probably seen more live football than you or I probably interacted with more players, probably talked to more people that know about football....

Selecting a manager is a lottery where 40% is an excellent record. I've no clue if he'll hire our new manager or not, I've no clue if the Niners will leave the ball in his court but one things for sure he's in a better position to do that job than you or I if it push came to shove

Lets vote on who we'd select and report transfer rumours that won't come true til the cows come home and let the cards fall where they may.... Part of being a fan is acceptance and then support till the player/manager proves himself or herself inept

Get that bit nailed and your golden

Would be a logical link. Webber been part of discussion for the past couple of weeks. Possible that the new owners have been talking to him behind the scenes
hope not he's been a horror show at norwich recently according to my mate who's a big Norwich fan

This has just turned into a parallel 'next manager' thread - might as well merge.

Of the names on that list , well would have to say Rogers , Corberen if the Bielsas style to be retried maybe . Not Gerrard , saw a Villa fan on YouTube going of into Gerrard and gave many many good reasons not to entertain that idea . Tactically woeful and many more .
