Garry Monk was appointed Leeds United manager in 2016 after a short stint at Swansea City. Tasked with stabilizing the club following years of turbulence, he led a strong play-off push in the 2016–17 Championship season. Despite finishing just outside the top six, Monk's team showed promise and improvement. He resigned at the end of the campaign amid disagreements with the board and went on to manage Middlesbrough, Birmingham City, and Sheffield Wednesday.
