Jimmy Adamson took charge of Leeds United in 1978 following a short-lived spell by Jock Stein. Known for his coaching credentials at Burnley, he tried to modernise an aging Leeds squad but struggled to get consistent results. Adamson resigned in 1980 and did not return to management at the top level. His tenure marked the ongoing decline of the Revie era's old guard.
