John Carver served as caretaker manager of Leeds United in 2006 following Kevin Blackwell's dismissal. Known primarily as an assistant coach, his spell was seen as a job interview of sorts, but after a positive start with a win against Birmingham City, Leeds lost the following four games. Carver was replaced briefly by Dave Geddis before Dennis Wise took charge. Carver later managed Newcastle United and took up various coaching roles, including with the Scottish national team.
