Michael Skubala stepped up from his role in the academy to take interim charge of Leeds United in 2023 after the departure of Jesse Marsch. Despite limited experience at senior level, he oversaw a spirited performance in a 2–2 draw against Manchester United. He remained part of the coaching setup following the appointment of Javi Gracia. Skubala's brief time in the hot seat highlighted the club's reliance on internal stability during uncertain times.
