Peter Reid was appointed Leeds United manager in 2003 during the club's descent from the Premier League. Initially brought in on a short-term deal, he helped Leeds avoid relegation at the end of the 2002–03 season. However, the following campaign was plagued by financial crisis, player sales, and poor form. Reid was sacked later that year. His brief spell is remembered as part of the club's dramatic decline in the early 2000s.
