Terry Venables was appointed Leeds United manager in 2002, taking over from David O'Leary at a time of great off-field uncertainty. Despite his pedigree with England and Tottenham Hotspur, Venables struggled to deliver results amid player sales and financial instability. He clashed with the board over transfers and was eventually dismissed in March 2003. His time at Leeds marked the final managerial role in a long and distinguished coaching career.
