Leeds United’s struggles continued with a 3–1 defeat away at Nottingham Forest, where a promising start quickly unravelled. After Lucas Perri kept Forest out with an early double save, Leeds took the lead through Lukas Nmecha, who finished neatly from Brenden Aaronson’s pass. But the advantage lasted barely two minutes as Ibrahim Sangare pounced on a rebound to level the score, exposing familiar defensive frailties. From that point on, Leeds never really looked in control, and the game drifted to half-time with little attacking threat from either side.

Forest grew stronger after the break, helped by Sean Dyche’s substitutions. One of those, Omari Hutchinson, delivered a cross that captain Morgan Gibbs-White headed home to put the hosts ahead. Leeds, meanwhile, looked flat and failed to respond. Nmecha had taken a knock but was left on too long, and by the time Daniel James and Dominic Calvert-Lewin came on, the side was chasing the game. James forced a save from Matz Sels and Calvert-Lewin went close with the rebound, but Leeds couldn’t find an equaliser.

Any hopes of a comeback ended when Jack Harrison clipped his man in the box, allowing Elliot Anderson to convert from the spot. Forest’s first win under Dyche lifted them to within two points of Leeds, who are now hovering just above the relegation zone. It was another frustrating afternoon defined by a lack of composure and organisation — a game that Leeds let slip almost as soon as they went ahead.

Was a great caption competition pic if nothing else.
What I thought was truly bizarre about that free kick is that both Aaronson and Amps made the same movement for the short ball. It is not as if the movement could create confusion. Add to that the poor delivery and it was all very bizarre. Given our height and danger from the set piece it is hard to fathom.

Stach previously delivered our most consistent set piece and in his absence that duty went to Longstaff. Arguably a case can be made for having Stach in a position to get on the end of a delivery. But if the delivery is poor it completely negates that argument. Longstaff has been inconsistent in the set piece role, why did we not revert back to what was working previously.
