Leeds United extended their impressive unbeaten Premier League run to seven matches with a deserved 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in North London. With survival already secured before kick-off, Daniel Farke’s side played with discipline throughout, frustrating a Spurs team desperate for points in the relegation battle. Joe Rodon almost haunted his former club in the first half, forcing Antonin Kinsky into an excellent save, while Pascal Struijk and Ethan Ampadu marshalled the defence superbly as Leeds stood firm under increasing Tottenham pressure.

The hosts eventually broke the deadlock shortly after half-time when Mathys Tel curled a strike into the top corner from the edge of the area. Leeds responded positively despite losing Struijk to injury, continuing to threaten through the energetic Brenden Aaronson and Daniel James. The turning point arrived with 16 minutes remaining when Tel’s high boot caught Ampadu inside the penalty area. Following a lengthy VAR review, referee Jarred Gillett pointed to the spot, allowing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to thunder home his 14th goal of the season and bring Leeds deservedly level.

Leeds nearly completed the turnaround during a dramatic stoppage period after Lukas Nmecha injected fresh energy from the bench. Sean Longstaff came closest to a winner deep into added time, crashing a fierce effort against the underside of the crossbar after Antonin Kinsky had made a superb save. Although unable to claim all three points, Leeds once again demonstrated the resilience and organisation that has comfortably secured their Premier League status.

He went on to say that he should have been awarded a penalty for a fowl in the area. Clearly our defender played the ball and it was shown on a reply. Its players like Maddison that believe they are something special and any challenge should be punished. The media need to call out these players that try to cheat, name and shame them until they stop....
The ref obviously chickened out 🐓
