Elland Road hosted a typically intense war of the roses clash on Sunday that finished 1-1, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelling out Bryan Mbeumo’s first-half opener. On the surface it was a hard-fought point for both sides. Dig into the numbers, however, and a clearer picture emerges from a Leeds perspective; Daniel Farke’s men controlled large stretches of the game, generated the better chances, and finished the afternoon as the side that could feel more satisfied with the outcome. Leeds recorded 135 passes in the final third to their opponents 111 and completed 21 touches inside the opposition box against 13.

Those figures underline a sustained presence in Manchester United’s half rather than a succession of hopeful long balls. Shots inside the box followed the same pattern, Leeds managed 10 to the red devils 6. The expected goals tally (1.44 to 0.91) confirms that the quality of the chances, not merely the volume, favoured the home side. Crosses completed (4/29 versus 2/10) further illustrate Leeds’ willingness to attack from wide areas, even if the success rate was modest. Long passes were almost identical (64-63), so the difference was not raw directness but the ability to progress the ball into dangerous zones more frequently and with greater variety.

Possession sat at roughly 61% for Leeds in this match, well above this seasons average of around 47%, with a higher volume of accurate passes overall. It translates into a higher xG (1.44 to 0.91) and greater number of box entries (21 touches in the opposition box versus 13). Calvert-Lewin’s equaliser, finished after Tarik Muharemovi?’s header from a corner, was representative of Leeds’ second-half pressure. Leeds have generally averaged under 50% possession across their seven league games, so the territorial dominance they showed against Carrick's men stood out.

The stats show that a draw was the minimum Leeds deserved. Farke's men were superior in the metrics that matter: final-third entries, box touches, shots from prime positions, and expected goals. Manchester United’s defensive organisation and occasional moments of quality (notably Mbeumo and Tielemans) kept them in the contest, but the underlying data shows Leeds as the more proactive and progressive side for the majority of the afternoon. A point at home against a bitter rival is never the result you want, yet our new found expectations show how far the club have come since winning promotion from the Championship.

The masses who see it different to me shouldn't really be allowed to vote or express their opinions.

Got some attention on social media.

Some getting very cross, abusing an old man etc.

Others saying Ferguson would have enjoyed it and won't have cared.

80% of our passengers votes were for Calvert-Lewin, Elvedi, Muharemovic & Bogle, similar to the Official site.

Tanaka, Trafford, Gudmundsson & Stach shared the other 20% of the votes.

Those players received 77% because they were four of our best on the day

Stach was poor & the golden boy was overrated here.

Tanaka only received 3 votes from our 57 passengers on our coach, fans at the actual match, that was the general consensus.
