Sounds like only Douglas and Dallas are available for selection from our injury list

I think he could still have a part to play this season even if he does need 7 or 8 U23 games first.
He's already had 2 (or is it 3?) so in 4 or 5 games he should be ready.
Therefore we could have him fit for the last 10 games or so.
Not ideal I agree but he could make a difference when it matters.
That's assuming he doesn't have any more setbacks of course...

Part-time footballers, heard it all now

Don & Billy would be turning in their graves
No we signed a player in the hope that we'd get half a season out of him with a no risk to us in terms of finances. Even more so we could decide whether or not to play him, when fit, and as such wouldn't have to pay a single penny if we deemed him not good enough (i.e. the injury had made him a shadow of the player he was). So worst case scenario he doesn't play at all and all it has done is given the other injured lads a bit of company - huge downside that!!!

Upside is he plays games, even if just a handful of games, it can make a difference. Some fans still seem to think we only won the title because of Cantona, well guess what he only played a handful of games after making his debut in February. Guess what Wilkinson signed Lee Chapman in January of our promotion winning season and he got the goals to get us promoted. Guess what Huddersfield only signed Izzy Brown in January of their promotion winning season, his 4 goals in 15 matches going a big way to helping them win promotion including the winner against us with his first touch after coming on as a sub.

So yeah signing a player to play a handful of games can be brilliant.

Football has moved on since Billy and Don's day, perhaps you'd not noticed.

We splash out £7m+ on Bamford and we splash out nothing on Brown and the difference so far has been a handful of minutes. However Bamford's winning goal could be significant at the end of the season (in a similar way to Steve Hodge's winner v Liverpool in the title winning season) and similarly Brown might only make a couple of appearances but could provide the catalyst to get a win that could be crucial. Even though Brown has been out injured he has had the benefit of getting to know Bielsa's tactics and also getting to know his teammates so that if he does get a first team appearance he will have that advantage. Saiz departed, for valid personal reasons, and even if we didn't have Brown he wouldn't have been easy to replace, sounds like we see James at Swansea as a similar type player (he can play wide or through the centre and carries the ball well at speed) so it looks like we are looking to replace Saiz.
Bielsa wanted a winger in the summer, we didnt get one, Daniel James covers that (if he comes).

We have lost Lewis Baker (useless) i know but still a body and Samu Saiz.

Izzy Brown was signed with the expressed knowledge he would probably not be fit till 2019 at the earliest. I still firmly think that Saiz wanted to go in the summer, the club convinced him to stay till January, after all Samu and his Wife didnt decide to go back to Spain on a whim.

They signed Brown for that reason hoping he'd be fit, cheap and risk free. It hasnt paid of, it was always a risk, now we need to sign a replacement for Baker and Saiz.

Relying on Brown is madness, Bielsa clearly wants more quality in the final 3rd and a winger was something he wanted before.

Minimum of 2 players needed otherwise we rely on an ageing Pablo and 3 raw kids in Clarke, Harrison and James if he comes.

Ali to but he may remain at Lb.

At this rate Izzy is a bust, nobody signs players for a few games at this level, nobody including us has the squad depth for that.
