Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
That's why I say it works against smaller clubs who don't have rich owners. City, Chelsea etc can simply spend what they want and as shown in my examples get round FFP even if they were losing billions from a business point of view. Whereas say a lower league club needs to sell to keep afloat but b...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
I understand that. Year 1 £13mil Year 2 £10mil And so on. But how can something you pay out millions for over the ffp cycle as we will have been for Koch be anything but a loss on the ffp accounts when you receive 0 back? It makes no sense, does it? Because he will be a loss cjay! The loss will be ...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 10th January) Ayling set to undergo medical at Boro
will be v sad to see luke go, a true LUFC legend and always gave 100%. Played a big part of our success over the last few years. The transfer makes sense though as clearly Farke doesn't rate him shame about cresswell - you do get the feeling that he might come back to bite us and become a great player

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
Ultimately ffp is just for accounting purposes in order to meet the pl rules. At the end of the day, here we allowed a minimum 10 mill player leave for next to nothing, which is bad business in anyone's books. Rodrigo similarly was a poor return on investment.

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
I think Rodrigo would have been an FFP loss this year. If we say paid £24m on a 4 year contract then we'd have needed to sell for £6m to have broke even FFP wise - as such I am guessing we were £3m down on FFP for him. If you look at our starting line this season their FFP values if we were to sell...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
Let's say Leeds bought Koch for £10m on a 4 year contract. As such every year his FFP value goes down by 1/4 until his 4 year contracts ends and his FFP value is £0. If we sold him after a year then we'd have had to sell him for £7.5m to break even against FFP, sell him for more than £7.5m and we h...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
But we still owe the final installment on his contract for the 23/24 season so this season which is £3.25million. We received nothing for him so when we pay that then that is a loss? I don't understand how an asset leaving for nothing can ever be anything but a loss? Same with Rodrigo. We got £3mil...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
He's out of contract.... we bought him he played out his contract. Once he's out of contract he's not worth 13M... he's worth exactly nothing so it should be the nothing that goes against FFP. Also FFP is over 3 years and we'll have had him 4 the 13 mill will be amortized over the length of the con...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
Yeah you can see some sort of logic in terms of ffp etc with them leavingon loan but like you say it is staggering to do it in the last year of a contract. No doubt if we don't go up the players who left on loan this season can continue to leave on loan next year and could ismply wind their contrac...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
We were going to lose him anyway. Koch wasn't signing a contract extension with us, so any money we got from a loan deal was a bonus. unless we....sold him last summer?! obviously would be slightly knocked down price as he would have been in the last year of his contract, but still would have comma...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
I suspect we’ll pick up a $250-500k fee. Otherwise Frankfurt jeopardize losing Koch to a rival via free transfer. They’ll have to pay some form of consideration in order to finalize the transfer in this window. My two cents… foreign clubs can sign UK based players on a pre-contract from 1 Jan (when...

Re: Robin Koch- Signs pre contract with Eintracht Frankfurt
Not upset by this. He showed us last year he's not a Premier League defender. He might have helped us get back up, but he wasn't going to keep us there. apart from the fact that we've lost a 10-20 mill player for nothing? an absolute disaster those loan clauses have turned out to be - how short sig...

Re: Finlay Gorman
Players like Brahim Diaz and Sancho were poached from other academies, not produced by them. Only really Cole Palmer was a bonafide academy product they sold for big money and that's cause Chelsea overpay. it obviously takes a long time to overhaul your academy, in terms of players coming through f...

Re: Finlay Gorman
Name the myriad of youngsters to have come through the City academy? They have been hoovering up the best youngsters from Lancashire and Yorkshire for years with arguably little to show for it. there's an absolute boatload of players - some who've been there throughout their youth careers (not too ...
