Don't think I've ever listened to them really.

(I was thinking you were going ABC)
I was, as folk on here seem more interested in the 80s stuff.

Arcade Fire debut 'Funeral' walloped every album in the 2004 Album of the Year, poll with a score of 41 points, so can't be that bad, but we have a different personnel with different tastes on here now.

One of the greatest innovative albums of the modern era!

I didn't rate Neon Bible or anything after so one album wonders with forgettable track names which doesn't help... I listened to Funeral a lot but as I say I couldn't name the track if it were played to me...

A Perfect Circle begins with A, not a fan of ABC so that would have been a hard pass too. Adam And The Ants, Alice in Chains, Air, The incredible Alabama 3, Allman Brothers, Aswad, an the soulful Average White Band ... `all good for me. Feel No Fret is still in my all time top 30

I was at an all day festival in San Bernardino in 2005. About 12 bands (Oasis, Tool, Weezer, Bloc Party, 311, Beck, Madness, Jet, Garbage, Kasabian)

I'd never heard of Arcade Fire. But they were awesome. Best band of the day. So much going on on stage. They've been one of my favourite bands ever since. I think Neon Bible, Funeral, Suburbs, and Everything Now are excellent albums.

Funeral was a slow burner when first released in the UK, I remember buying the album for £5.99 in the Woolworths sale after Christmas, Then AF appeared on the Jools Holland show & then album became a massive seller.

Arcade Fire are one of my favourite bands. Saw them live before I knew who they were and they're fantastic on stage.

Anyway:

1. Sprawl 2 (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
2. Neighborhood 3 (Power Out)
3, Creature Comfort
4. Intervention

I added extra for all those saying they didn't know any of their songs

While we're on it Rebellion (Lies) is the one that's big with all the critics.

andrewjohnsmith wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2024 6:53 pm Try Sprawl (Mountains Beyond Mountains). Regine sings that one. She's one of my favourite parts about the band. Does backing vocals and plays a lot of percussion instruments. They are very much an indie guitar band. But they do have a lot of percussion instruments. The other cool guy in the band is Richard Reed Parry who plays pretty much everything. When I hear their albums the percussion gets lost in the production. That's what makes them so great to see live.
Doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid... not connecting with it at all.

For me too. It was a year after its release when I discovered them

I do miss Jools Holland. Used to catch it on BBC America. Is the show still running?

Rebellion (Lies)
Neighbourhood (Tunnels)
Neighbourhood (Power Out)

BTW, I do sometimes contribute on this thread, just not the album thread after the second time around.

First heard them on Jules. Loved them, but haven't listened to them for ages. Great band I thought. Female singer/keyboard was married to lead singer I believe.

Don't really bother with music any more, I used to love it.....seems to get on my nerves now, can't cope with it, hate the noise, the intrusion, especially in the car :x can't stand radio either. Sorry.

Would love to get back into it though....but don't really know how....

Correct. They are married. Not sure about their relationship. All accounts are that he's a bit of a dick with the public. And supposedly he cheated on her last year.
