I appreciate the point made. But the playoffs are the last thing these players will want after their ars£s have fallen out. Whether that be due to; exhaustion, disharmony or a lack of passion.weasel wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 6:11 pm All itis indicative of is that football is, as Mr Greaves would say, a funny ol' game.
A few seasons back my Sunday side played in the Cup Semi (played in midweek), we were 2nd in the league at the time and were playing the team top of the league. Thrashed them 5-0 with yours truly opening the scoring. A few days later and back in league and desperate to close on the league leaders we went and lost 5-1 to a mid table team with nothing to play for. No dressing room lost, in a turnover time similar to the time between the Boro and QPR games. It is just football and my side played sh*te after playing brilliant the game before. And for those interested we went on to win the cup and got promoted, as runners up.

Re: Leeds Utd v Southampton Match Thread
Very quiet on the forum for a matchday with an outside chance of automatic promotion & a guaranteed place in the playoffs Just looking for a good positive display, no point in sitting back or resting players unless it’s apparent that Ipswich are out of sight. Need the momentum going into the playoffs and a good performance today could make all the difference to the players mentality so bring it on.

Looks like Bamford is missing from the matchday squad, most likely Piroe upfront
Re: Leeds Utd v Southampton Match Thread
I doubt there will be any surprises to the starting 11. If Bamford is missing he will go with Piroe.

I don't know what the weather is doing in Leeds right now. But I would totally understand if there are forum members who opt to mow the lawn (instead of watching) because they feel totally flat. If not numb. Today.

Kamara for Gray and Byram holds his place ... Playing with no one up front is a dangerous ploy. Don't think we've done well with a Geo/Piroe AMF pair this season.
Fingers crossed.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but the whole rhetoric around DF and the abundant negativity is a difficult read for me. Not that I do not disagree with every issue raised, but the bleak outlook by many is like eating a bowl of suet dumplings followed by a big stodgy pudding. It is just too much for my palette.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 10:14 am Very quiet on the forum for a matchday with an outside chance of automatic promotion & a guaranteed place in the playoffs Just looking for a good positive display, no point in sitting back or resting players unless it’s apparent that Ipswich are out of sight. I am hoping for a cracking game today - although the chances are it will be a cagey affair with both teams not wanting to lose. It may come to life at some point and will likely depend on how the Ipswich game is panning out, which will be evident from the fans reaction during the game. If Ipswich fall behind the place will erupt. Could be an up and down or visa versa afternoon.
There is generally drama of some description on the last day.

Re: Leeds Utd v Southampton Match Thread
So, two things.
Firstly I woke up at 3am in a cold sweat: what if Summerville and Gnonto have free-loan clauses if we don’t get promoted, and we lose them without a penny coming in.
Secondly, I’ve structured my entire day around a 3pm kick off, only to realise, just now, that it’s 12.30. and the games on Sky. I guess Aldi will just have to wait.

WARNING: During game time, any post I make is not to be taken seriously, neither is it meant as offence. I'm a hot-blooded creature prone to moments of exasperation and expletive.

Our best hope is that Rutter and Summerville have a dramatic return to form during this meaningless fixture.

This is rather out of character, either your account been hacked or Sean Nile has you tied to chair and is posting for you.Scoobychief wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 10:23 am We're going up we're going up we're gonna thrash Southampton 5-0 Ipswich gonna loose 4-0 we're going up we're going up

Looks like Southampton have picked a strong team, looks like they will be going for it too.

Its all a bit self-indulgent and repetitive.
Re: Leeds Utd v Southampton Match Thread
Southampton have gone full strength. I'm surprised by that.
I'm predicting a 1-1 which won't matter because Ipswich will win 3 or 4 nil.

i keep thinking of Buster Douglas for some reason.

I honestly think the only drama will be the relegation issues but we will see.DDB220 wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 10:34 am I can’t speak for anyone else, but the whole rhetoric around DF and the abundant negativity is a difficult read for me.
