Song Of The Day - Post up your song for today folks!
Right folks just one song a day. You may have heard it on the radio/off an album/in a club, pub, etc
So start you-tubing your song of the day
I'll start with this cracker from 1969 which featured in film The Thomas Crown Affair starring Steve McQueen & the luscious Faye Dunaway

Re: Song Of The Day
Why is it that when I hear the first two verses, I think of LUFC ?
Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain, or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind!
Like a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving in a half forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble someone tosses in a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind!

I love the Russian version of this by ukulele virtuoso Ian Emmerson.
He was going so fast at the end I thought he would explode.
Great laugh.

Re: Song Of The Day
Radio alarm clock woke me up to Jackie Wilson 'Your Love (is lifting me higher)', that'll do nicely for today's earworm!!

Re: Song Of The Day
I had three songs in mind i've heard today
Probably my favourite Mountain song 'Nantucket Sleighride' or 'Same Situation' from the lovely voice of Joni from her album Court & Spark
In the end i went for this one, a beautiful instrumental which has an Irish feel by a band who actually originate from Melbourne, Australia

Re: Song Of The Day
Was driving around the foggy Wolds to this song yesterday morning as the lyrics blasted out "Nothing Ever Change"
unsure about that as i couldn't see a thing apart from fog-lights
Anyway this one is not the best song by the Specials but it is a happy song

You can pick up a plastic Makala Dolphin for 25 quid ( play lots of my stuff on it)
You should tell him about the Ukulele Underground there are some fantastic
forums on there.
They have one called Seasons of the ukulele where a host picks a theme for the
week and everybody does covers that fits the theme. One of the moderators
from Hawaii also gives online lessons with chord diagrams.

He's only 8 , and only had half a dozen lessons so he's a little off that at the moment but he's enjoying it which is the main thing.rab_rant wrote:

Managed to get him one with a case for £20.00, his teacher said it was good enough for now.

Hey soul sister
The Makala Dolphin though cheap and plastic is one of the better cheap ukes especially if you
restring it with AQUILA NYGUT strings. It keeps in tune and has some volume to it.
