Elland Road Building Work
Building work on going on the West Stand. Not seen many details, bit of a spruce up of the exterior and internal areas inhcluding changing rooms.
Re: Elland Road Building Work
Good to see, the west stand badly needs a refurb !
LEEDS AND FOREVER PROUD TO BE !!

I agree with you Leon. It needs a Liverpool like main stand alas, we dont have the funds to do such a great job as they have done there.

That's the one, breathtaking isnt it Leon. I was in awe glancing at that to our right when we were there that night behind the goal. Obviously the lower tier was already there but they added the top 2.
If we could do something similar with West Stand, over time, it would be fantastic.

Re: Elland Road Building Work
The downside of that stand is that it came with ticket prices that exclude vast swathes of the old fanbase, leading to a deathly atmosphere (at least on the night we were there). Also, I can't imagine you can see much from the back of the first tier upwards. (I once had a grim night in the upper sections of the new Wembley and felt completely disconnected from the match. It was like watching on a small telly while strangers around me chatted and ate crisps).
If we're playing fantasy stadium redevelopment, how about (a few years hence when regulations have changed) giving the West Stand a new roof (no pillars), adding height/depth to the stand for another 20-25 rows, and have it all safe standing. Talk about a wall of sound!

I think all this work in the West stand is to enhance corporate facilities with a new pitch view restaurant and various other things. If you look on the o/s about corporate packages, sorry can't copy link, it's explained in more detail.

New dressing rooms...

Re: Elland Road Building Work
Wow, a good quality changing area will make a difference to the team too, small details like that will all help preparations before games
I realised I was dyslexic when I went to a toga party dressed as a goat..
Re: Elland Road Building Work
I love Elland Road. I know that some of you MOT'ers would like a new stadium but for me its all about atmosphere. I was there during the great Revie era, and our old lady football stadium rocked. Yes, there are many new 'plastic' non atmospheric grounds out there.....and I don't want us to be one of them. Elland Road is 'home' to me, so when I go to a home game, I want to feel at home...Elland Road....my home of football

Very impressive what the new owner has done so far to the stadium. I was one of those that thought moving to a new stadium might be a better option financially and felt ER, as a stadium, was a bit of an embarrassment due to the mismatched stands and the generally tired appearance. Full credit to AR for not just concentrating on trying to get us into the premiership but also building up the youth set up, investing in the first team, buying the stadium back and starting to give us a stadium that we can be proud of.
Great work too by LUST who have come up with a superb mural featuring the title winning midfield, to adorn the Lowfields Rd underpass. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-40788945
The city of Leeds is starting to once again have a club to be proud of. Credit is due not just to AR but also to Massimo Cellino and Garry Monk. Last season was hopefully the start of something special.
