George Hirst

Post by Cjay »

Been linked with him for a while now.

Top goalscoring this summer in the Toulon Tournament, tons of goals in the younger age groups.

Sheffield Wednesday's Chairman confirmed they had turned down an offer from a "local Championship club" rumoured to be us. As well as us it is know Leicester had a £2m bid turned down during the summer.

But this story has all got a bit messy.

On one side, George Hirst, son of club legend David Hirst and his agent, Doyen Sports. On the other, Sheffield Wednesday Chairman Dejphon Chansiri.

On Doyen it is common knowledge that Sheffield Wednesday pay them as advisors and they help Wednesday find players, but they also represent some players such as Lucas Joao, Marco Mattias and George Hirst and according to Wednesday's forum possibly there manager to. So, The Chairman says "Doyen, i think i should sack Carlos". Doyen say "We wouldn't advise that Mr Chansiri", anyway i digress.

So, earlier this week the Chairman basically said "we made George a fair offer and he has been badly advised and was asking for the same as a 1st team regular". George's side is basically "he just wants first team opportunity ".

George hasnt played at any level for Wednesday for a few months and his dad David Hirst left his role in hospitality apparently a few months ago.

All seems a bit murky, the conflict of interests, the mysterious departure of a club legend and stuck in the middle his teenage son.

You have a Chairman taking advise from an agency, the same agency represents various players and presumably makes money of the players it represents, including the few that Wednesday have subsequently signed.

You have a talented striker, son of a legend, unable to get a look in at his boyhood club, while he sees fellow England teammates thriving, Ronaldo Vieira, David Brooks at Sheffield United, Harvey Barnes and Ike Ugbo on loan at Barnsley, Joe Worrell at Notts Forest.

Sorry this is so long

So, would we want young George Hirst at Leeds?

And what do we make of the situation overall?
Signed
