Old Pubs thread...

Post by Smudge3920 »

Remaniscing about the late '60s onwards... and the pub crawls around Leeds, City center, really was some cracking old pubs in our beautiful City...

1. Whip Hotel, off Duncan Street...
Great old pub, rich history Great Grandad told me in the ''30's it sold more beer than any other pub in Leeds....In the '50's early '60's was well known as an Irish pub, Dad told me that one.... around '74 women allowed in for the first time , remember the shock on walking in the first time and seeing it when on leave... 1994 renamed the Fiddlers Elbow by Tetleys who owned it great pint of bitter...

Here's another cracker...The Market Tavern... Another Uncle of mine was the landlord of this establishment along with his 5th (may have been 6th wife) (better record than Hector :P )... truly deserved it's nickname of the "Madhouse"
Demolished in 1995 for a bloody car park...

Used to frequent the Whip on crawls around Leeds before and after the match..
I remember singing and dancing on the seating in there after we'd won the league in 92.. Great days. 🍺🍻
