Re: Leeds Utd v Everton Match Thread - Sinisterra starts as Bamford makes the bench

Post by Carrick Dave »

Regarding Joffy, I believe the game plan focused on giving Bamford the last 15 to score the winner.

When Rodrigo was injured Joffy was draughted in to play the interim, knowing that he would be subbed with 15 left. Bonus for him as otherwise he’d have had no opportunity at all.

As it turned out, we’d have been better keeping him on.

8 points from 5 games, we take it. Move on.

Wasn't specifically referring to tonight (all be it aside from that 1 cross he was very poor) not a great contribution.

But during his time here he tends to range from a few good to really bad without much in-between which was reflected last season by his almost total lack of appearance on our motm polls (think I'm right in saying Tyler Roberts had more).

His corners in particular were abject tonight.

Had a decent start Harrison but last two games have been poor.

Still not entirely convinced he fits the system but it definitely doesn't help having a cb playing behind him.

Did seem to keep width bit more though than Sinisterra? Maybe Marsch's way of trying to help Harrison?

Just had a second watch and have to say that I thought we looked a lot better than the watching live. First time was very much frustrating. But watching with hindsight I thought we looked good overall.

We had the lions share of the play and the chances. We held our shape well defensively and only had a couple of major lapses. Transition and build up play were very good. We just lacked the killer ball at the end and the final product.

Joffy's second chance was really unlucky and should have been the winner. It looked like it was going through Pickford's legs and he just caught it with the back of his heel - it was a great reflex save.

At the back, Koch looked class and Rasmus and Strujik had decent games. Llorente was not to blame for the goal as he was trying to chase Gordon down and was back turned and off balance when the ball passed him. He was a little erratic (he'd been much better in the first 3 games). Might be glad to see Cooper back.

Roca and Adams ran the midfield really well. Nice to see Roca get through 90 and start expressing a little more with a few long range passes. Adams is just everywhere, affecting so much.

Harrison was better on rerun, made several good runs and crosses. Defence was quick to double him up. But corners were poor and should have done better with the chance he had. Aaronson had a decent game and Sinisterra looks a real gem. Joffy had a good game and it was nice to see Bamford back.

There were still problems. As a team we could have dealt with Gordon better. And I wasn't sure about their offside goal. It was as tight as the decision we didn't get against Southampton.

All in all. We played well and were unlucky not to take this 3-1.

The stats say a great deal:
  • 70% possession
    14 shots to 7 - On target 5 to 2
    Corners 10 to 2

Well i woke and decided to not find out the result and read here from the start.

There's a helluva lot of references to Bert, but i'll refrain.

We seem fcking clueless with the ball when we've harried them off it and it's our turn to go forward, so it seems Chelsea played into our hands and our tactics to 'smash and grab' worked a treat v them...to nullify our threat it seems all teams have to do is just give us the ball coz we don't know what to do with it in an attacking sense, about right?

Paul we're gonna need other plans than what beat Chelsea, what does he have in his locker and why is he so s**t at attacking?

I'm also like Cjay thinking this 49er's involvement is gonna be gash, they're gonna be just right keeping us in the Prem avoiding relegation whilst they siphon off millions in the process, RADZ YOU'RE A FCKING numpty IF YOU SELL OUT TO THEM.

The sooner they are gone the better, someone needs to come in and get them paid off with some profit from their investment here, it's all they're here for, Glaziers have zero interest in scum being successful they are just using them as a cash cow to pay off all their debts, 49er scumbags are doing similar but don't have debt, they just want any cash they can get, scummie thieving bastards.
Not dependent on Google, the www or 'stats' - Just a guy that puts his eyes to full use on the beautiful game :geek:

Talking to a mate at work this morning who watched the game and he says we weren't that bad at all. Some good runs of play, players working hard just a lot of time wasting by Everton to break up play.
Think I'll take his word for how we performed, what went wrong, what was good etc etc.
No doubt at all we need a new striker but getting an established, guaranteed 15 -20 goal a season striker who wants to come to leeds will be like finding rocking horse sh*t.
Just going to watch the games I can and enjoy them where I can knowing we will not be relegated this season and hopefully achieve a mid table finish.
There's too much crap and stress and struggles going on in the world to worry about as it is.
Watching football is a distraction, sometimes good, sometimes bad.

That is how I saw the game. Everton the new Burnley. Agree with striker comments too

Kenneth, that's exactly the position we're in right now with the current owner.

Llorente is not with it at all. All over the place and so erratic. Teams will pinpoint him as the weak link and target him.

Love Sinisterra
I'll have a read later.

Didn't arrive home until after midnight due to the later kick-off & a diversion on the journey back home because part of the M62 was shut :(

Been busy with work for much of the morning.

Set the pattern for the whole game :(

Difference is with the likes Chelsea & the top teams they come to ER to win the game & are much easier to play against, whereas Everton, Villa, Wolves etc are game spoilers putting ten behind the ball, fouling, cheating, time-wasting & feigning injury which makes those teams difficult to break down.

Really poor, yet some on our coach back home were defending Jack saying he wasn't too bad, Harrison's end product was woeful.

Result is disappointing but definitely not on the side of doom and gloom. We've lost once in the first 5 games. Picked up the magic 8 points. Looked competitive and not been blown away by anyone. Whilst also seemingly fixing weaknesses as we go.
Everton are a shithouse team. Note they stopped wasting as much time once we equalised.
We will end up exactly where we aim between 10th and 14th.
Agree with all that, Hereford

Interesting take on the game from the BBC.
“Impressive Jack Harrison”.
The BBC are clueless on so much of their reporting on many issues, football being one of them, Jay.

About the only instinctive part of his game he got right, Andrew.

Majority of our moves broke down when the ball was at Harrison's feet.

One of the main reasons why we have only achieved one point vs Brighton/Everton is because Rodrigo & Harrison didn't show the same quality as they did in our first three PL games.
