Never a fan until I saw her open for Miles Davis in New York on 31 December, 1982. She put on a great show.

I like to vary it, we haven't done a female solo artist previously.

Did she sing anything original or was it all covers. First time is probably the song she is best known for. Plenty of cover versions after hers, of which, a few are also impressive.

I am waiting for the West Life poll. As Louis Walsh would say - They can sing, they can dance…..blah blah blah

Roberta was massive in the USA, where she had three No.1s & a No.2 single. Killing..., First Time..., & the gorgeous two songs 'Feel Like Makin' Love' & 'The Closer I Get You'

The beautiful 'Where Is The Love' also reached No.5 in the States, she also had a minor hit with 'Back Together Again' both songs well known from music fans who appreciate soul music.

Her biggest hit in the UK was with Peabro Bryson 'Tonight, I Celebrate My Love' in the early 80s (not her best imo!)

So, there are seven of her well known songs that weren't covers, she had several more hits, certainly not a one hit wonder.

Her debut album 'First Take' went to No.1 in the States, where she had seven other top 30 successful albums.

Unfortunately, the UK market was a bit sluggish to appreciate certain artists, especially soul music.
