Match Thread Newcastle Utd 0-0 Leeds Utd Post Match Debate.

Post by Ellandback1 »

Saturday 31st December 3:00pm | St James Park

Tyler Adams returns to the fold after suspension, as Leeds face the daunting task of a trip to St James Park on New Year's Eve. Eddie Howe's Magpies are souring high in 3rd place, seven points adrift of pace setters Arsenal. They have only lost once, and have the stingiest defence in the entire Football League, having conceded just 11 league goals all season

After back to back loses, Leeds will be desperate for something, to keep distance between themselves and the bottom five, and will be heartened that Crysencio Summerville is fit to participate. The 21yo was an unused substitute against Manchester City on Wednesday night. Had the scoreline been tighter, I'm sure Summerville would have had a run out.

Jack Harrison may have to do with a spot on the bench on Saturday, in favour of Wilfred Gnonto. The Italian International knows no fear, and put in a real shift against Citeh. Luis Sinisterra, Patrick Bamford and Stuart Dallas all miss out through injury.

Newcastle will be without Jonjo Shelvey, Alexander Isak, Paul Dummett. The trio are all suffering from shin / heel injuries. Emil Krafth (knee) and Callum Wilson (illness) are also unlikely to feature.

For me

Meslier
Kristensen
Struijk
Adams
Koch
Hjelde
Aaronson
Roca
Rodrigo
Gnonto
Summerville

One wonders who sits once Sinisterra is back... and Drameh should be starting

I think Drameh should be first sub up. I think the Ayling obsession has to cease.

About time Gnonto had a run of games.
If he's good enough for the Italian national team, he's good enough to play for Leeds.

We have to go with a bit of positivity & hope we can get something today.

Newcastle are a very good, organised team, but let's face it, they are not at Mannchester City or Arsenal's level yet.

A point would be decent, hoping we can nick a victory though.

the fact that they havent lost in so long will be an ultimatum to keep it going, would love to beat those barcodes but can only see 0 points on the board again

That winning run has to come to an end, Scooby, just have a feeling we're going to bounce back.

Adams back gives me a little hope. It will be interesting to see how JM goes about it. Does he go compact again like in the first half against Citeh which will mean lots of high press from ncstl. Or do we have a real go and try and press them high. Either way i think a defensive error will cost us again.

That's our major downfall, 1000. :(

Same side that played Spurs if possble.

Subs:

Forshaw and Klich to shore up the midfield
Gnonto, Harrison and Harradona to freshen things up front

Summerville or Harrison will come in for Gnonto.

Absolutely correct decision.

Jesse knows what he is doing.

Feel the same '64. Howe has done a great job building an organised unit, but they still have average players within that set up.

The key question is what Leeds team shows up. Even more so, how long will we be shite before we start doing the good stuff that we can do. We are so Jekyll and Hyde at the moment it's infuriating.

A point is possible and would be very welcome.

My concern is if Saint-Maximin plays, his paces cause havoc against our defence, we just don't handle him well.

Three changes:
Ayling, Adams and Harrison in
Kristensen, Greenwood and Roca out

Interesting.

Nice to see Harrison and Forshaw fit. Jacky in the shop window?
Plenty of grist for the mill of the critics too!
