Re: Players Ratings v Aston Villa (a)
Meslier - 6 dont think he can do much more on the 2nd.
Ayling - 7 active in maintaing control
Koch - 7 bar one poor pass and the yellow tackle, a fine night
Cooper - 8 90 minutes mistake free
Struijk - 2 he's why we lost
Roca - 5 passing was, once again, terrible in the first half.
Adams - 8 if he's the man back, we don't concede to the first.
Aaronson 5 played better but the missed tackle and the lack of end product.
Gnonto - 9 nigh perfect.
Harrison - 7 solid in the first then drifted out of the game. Great save denies him a goal.
Rodrigo - 8 maybe coulda chipped a first goal, but deserved a pen and the disallowed was by a shoulder.
Bamford - 7 goal
Gelhardt - 4 took some wind out.
Greenwood - 6 not much from run of play but nearly an assist from the last minute corner. Should play ahead of Roca for the service alone.
Firpo - 6 didnt mess up
Wober - 7 necessary change that brought stability at the LB.

Re: Players Ratings v Aston Villa (a)
We may have found our match defensively with Villa but only one team leaves with 3 points.
Meslier 5: Didn't have a lot to do in terms of saves. Could he have done better with the second....? Made a complete hash of the clearance towards the end.
Ayling 7: Solid enough from Bill. One sloppy pass that nearly cost us towards the end. He's getting fitter. His attacking intent not really fully utilized in this set-up.
Koch 6: He still doesn't convince me Koch. Like Bill a really tired pass at the end just when we needed composure.
Cooper 7: Especially solid in the air from Coops a couple of good early tackles. One cracking pass out to Willy i remember.
Struijk 3: He's going through one of them spells again. Needs a rest. At fault for both goals. He's not committed enough in the tackle and his positioning can be lapse.
Roca 6: I thought he played better than he has for a while, but that's from a low bar. I really expected more from Marc this season.
Adams 8: If there is a better tackler in the PL i haven't seen them. He needs someone at the side of him to use the ball better.
Aaronson 7: Better in spells tonight with more purpose but i'm far from convinced he's consistent enough. Needs to be contributing some goals.
Gnonto 9: Outstanding all night, kept at it early on when they were trying to bully him a bit. Everytime he got the ball he only has one thing on his mind to run at his man. We don't want to burn the kid out but we can't afford him not being on the pitch.
Harrison 8: I though Jack was sharp and bright when he was on the pitch. Personally i would have taken Brendon off and left Jack on. You need to make use of Jack when he's in the zone. Maybe he had a knock?
Rodrigo 8: Worked tirelessly all night... Fractions with his goal.
Subs.
Bamford 7: Did what no one else could.
Wober 5: Too early to juddge.
Greenwood 4: Cracking dead ball deliverer but not a PL Midfielder imo.
Joffy 3: Anonymous again.

Re: Players Ratings v Aston Villa (a)
Meslier - 6 Mostly did well. Decisive and quick to react - except for that one incident late on
Ayling - 7 Decent game defensively. So much more than Rasmus going forward
Koch - 7 Mostly OK in defence. A couple of stray balls
Cooper - 8 Decent game all around
Struijk - 5 Too indecisive at times. Needs a week off and some time in the video booth
Roca - 6 Got forward more than usual due to nature of game but didn't help out at back when it mattered
Adams - 8 Threw himself everywhere as usual and broke up a lot of plays. Noticeable that he was laying on the floor in Villa's box right before their 2nd goal
Aaronson 6 Much better movement and creativity than recent games
Gnonto - 8 Not as aggressive as he was against WHam. But always offered a great threat - including the goal
Harrison - 6 Looked a lot better. Just missing the final ball
Rodrigo - 8 One of his best workman performances. Threatened goal constantly.
Bamford - 5 Scored the goal (great to see) but barely touched the ball otherwise
Gelhardt - 5 Brought on in midfield. Probably should have scored Bamford's goal. Not involved much
Greenwood - 6 Didn't get involved much. But delivered a great late fk and corner that deserved a goal
Firpo - N/A
Wober - 7 Just fits right in and seems very influential. Has to to start next game.
