Leeds Utd 2-2 Brighton - Post Match Debate
Saturday 11th March 3:00pm | Elland Road
Brighton face a cold Elland Road reception on Saturday afternoon, with hot lamps and under soil heating working overtime to ensure the fixture goes ahead. By comparison, their South Coast opponents are enjoying tropical conditions (by West Yorkshire standards), currently at 11 degrees. The Seagulls are flying high in the top flight, and with three points separating them from the top six, will be determined to take advantage of a Leeds team, equally desperate to cling on to Premier League survival.
Patrick Bamford faced a race against time to be fit for Saturday but will make the starting line-up. The 29 year old picked up a knock which kept him sidelined against Fulham and Chelsea, but has made good progress. Gracia will be glad to have more striking options following Georginio Rutter's lacklustre performances up frony. The Frenchman drops to the bench but is expected to make an appearance. Rodrigo also makes the bench having been out since the Accrington FA Cup game.
The bench is further strengthened with the return of Luis Sinisterra, Summerville and Harrison will start out wide though. Marc Roca returns to the midfield alongside Tyler Adams with Brenden Aaronson in the supporting role. Dallas (leg), Cooper (muscular), and of course Forshaw are all ruled out for the hosts. Pascal Struijk has been training all week, and may also play a part, though the back four of Ayling, Koch, Wober and Firpo look quite settled and will start the game.
Jakub Moder (knee), Enock Mwepu (Cardiac condition) and Adam Lallana (thigh) will all miss the trip to Elland Road, whilst defender Tariq Lamptey faces a late fitness test. Leeds have only beaten Brighton once in twelve attempts (losing nine); a 2-0 home victory in 2017, courtesy of a Chris Wood brace.

Problem with two up front is we'll lose the midfield battle leaving two not one player isolated...

Can someone nobble the likes of Mitoma, Mac Allister & Grob.
Six of Brighton's squad have scored five goals or more as opposed to one of our lot, Rodrigo, who is on his way back but not match-fit yet.

This is a more up-to-date list, Matt.
Lots of assists from their goalscorers too.
Re: Leeds Utd v Brighton Match thread
Very impressed with Mitoma, he looks a really good player 64

Can't see the back four changing, they've done nothing wrong in the last few games.

Luis Sinisterra and Rodrigo are with the squad.
May play vs Brighton.

Re: Leeds Utd v Brighton Match thread
Me neither, but at least it gives us relatively strong options from the bench rather than a few of the young kids.

Re: Leeds Utd v Brighton Match thread
Mitoma and Groß cost less each than we paid for Tyler Roberts.
Alexis Mac Alister cost 5× less than we are going to pay for McKennie.
Moises Caicedo cost about the same as we paid for Adam Forshaw.
Solly March was signed from non league as a kid.
Ewan Ferguson was signed to the academy from Ireland.
They don't even try to be thus wonderful academy promoting club and are better at it than us
There value for money recruitment is the best around as well.
Extremely well ran club (all be it massively bankrolled by Tony Bloom).

Definitely not fully agree
But nice to have options.
Think we need to get something from every home game.
Our away form is dreadful.

Weird how the likes of Brighton, Fulham, Brentford & other clubs recruitment is not only better value for money than our signings, but are more successful.Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 4:53 pm Mitoma and Groß cost less each than we paid for Tyler Roberts.

He was more like Rory Bremner....Ellandback1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 3:20 pm Do you remember Yosuke Ideguchi. He was dubbed the Japanese Bremner. Recently spent a year at Celtic. Played in only 3 games, and has gone back to the J league.

Re: Leeds Utd v Brighton Match thread
Fulham have invested squliions and are a yoyo club, Brentford have a good manager who looks happy to stay there but are going to hit their income ceiling very soon. They are also required to introduce a youth policy which will have a huge impact on their recruitment strategy in the seasons to come.
Brighton are seeing the fruitage of a long term strategy.
But where does that put Villa, SH, Everton , Leicester, Wolves and WH?
All well established Prem clubs?
