Junior Adamu is the latest forward linked to Leeds

Good Morning. It's Tuesday 19th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Adamu emerges as cheaper option up front emerges as cheaper option up front

Junior Adamu is the latest in a long line of forwards, linked to a Summer move to Elland Road. Adamu, 21, was born in Kano, Nigeria, but has represented Austria at Youth and Senior level, his one cap coming against Israel last November. He bagged nine goals from 43 appearances for RB Saltsburg last season.

Several Premier League clubs have shown an interest in Adamu, but have yet to back up their interest with an offer. Given his inexperience, a £12m price tag seems fair. It's certainly a more affordable option than Martin Terrier. Rennes have slapped a £34m price tag on their former French U21 star after netting 21 times last season. West Ham and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 25 year old.

Does Bamford have a future at Elland Road?

It's fair to say that Patrick Bamford had a season to forget last term. He was dogged with various injuries to both his hamstring and ankle, and then, to make matters worse, his plantar fascia ruptured. The icing on the cake was at the end of the season, when Leeds finally got him match fit - he caught Covid!

Compared to the 38 appearances, he made the season before, netting 17 times, and creating 8 assists, the fall from grace has been monumental. There are major doubts whether the soon-to-be 29yo can reach the dizzy heights of two years ago. He is yet to score in 2022, and has looked rusty when we have seen him play.

Does Bamford have a future at Elland Road? Can he replicate the form he showed two seasons ago, or is it time that Leeds cut their losses?

PSG transfer list Arnaut Kalimuendo

With 18 days to go before the start of the new season, Leeds find themselves in the difficult position of only having a partly fit Patrick Bamford to lead their line. Having missed out on a host of forwards this Summer, Victor Orta is rapidly running out of time to find a goalscorer. Whilst Leeds have missed out on first choice forwards Eddie Nketiah and Charles De Ketelaere, they have been handed a massive boost by French Giants PSG.

Leeds have been tracking Arnaut Kalimuendo all Summer, and made a £16m offer for the youngster last month, before losing interest once they heard De Ketelaere was available. Now that the Belgium International is off to the San Siro, Leeds have opened up negotiations with PSG. Kalimuendo is currently on a pre-season tour of Japan where he has already caught the eye of new Manager Christophe Galtier.

We don't have such a great track record with our players with Junior in their name. Our World Cup winner and our Barcelona star haven't exactly brought much to be excited about.
Maybe 3rd. time lucky!
Maybe 4th time -

On 19 June 2014, it was announced that Junior Lewis would join the coaching staff at Leeds United, working as assistant coach under the newly appointed head coach Dave Hockaday. The appointment was met largely with surprise by the fans of Leeds United, as Lewis had previously been with eighth tier Hendon.
On 28 August 2014, Lewis and head coach Hockaday were sacked by owner Massimo Cellino, having been in the job for only 70 days.
He returned to coaching for the 2015–16 season with Canvey Island.

I am not writing Bamford off yet. Showed what he can do before, and is the type of player to work in Marsch's system. He's had a taste of international football, so if he can stay fit and bang in some goals, he can push for a WC place, especially if any injuries impede his competition for the England squad.

That said, I am in total agreement we need an additional striker for the obvious reasons. Someone a little older and more seasoned would be idea as to allow our excellent young forwards like Gelhardt, Greenwood, Mateo Joseph, and now Perkins to develop. A versatile forward at that too, so Terrier would be ideal. All that aside, I would be more than happy to see Kalimuendo arrive too.

What I can't work out is Kalimuendo's attitude. He says he wants to fight for his place at PSG, and is also impressing the new coach there, yet they have transfer listed him. Can't be impressing much then? Or is there a mistake in all the information?
