Re: New number 9

Something I read ; " Jean-Kevin Augustin is not just the worst Leeds United striker of all time, he also has the infamy of being the single worst signing of all time, by pretty much every single measurable metric. HITC Football did a video on it a couple of months ago where they went into far m...

Hard to tell which was his better foot - great control and explosive shooting with either. Definitely the most talented striker that's played for the club since the mid 60s, and that includes Clarke.

1964white wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 11:29 am Somehow, Wilko & his staff found Yeboah, only for George Graham to come along & rub Tony's nose in the ground, and as a consequence gave us a season of boring football.
Everybody still remembers Yeboah's brilliance in a Leeds shirt, but few remember Graham's boring tenure as manager....

Re: New number 9

Yeboah scored with thunderbolts, passing the ball into the net plus tap-ins. Also scored overhead kicks, rounding a keeper, headers, goals with his left & right foot. A complete striker! Unbelievably good in one of our poorest teams during the 90s, in-between our league title winning side &...

Re: New number 9

Some would say Viduka or Hasselbaink. Top-notch for me would be Yeboah. 8-) At League One/championship level --- Jermaine Beckford, although he never played for Leeds in the championship. All three were top notch I would say. I can still remember the thrill of marvelling at Yeboah early in the 1995...

Re: New number 9

Agree with that Chapel  Paddy can go on a buy one, Meslier, and get two free deal, Paddy and Cooper = cya  Chris Wood is the last decent striker we've had. Just for comparison: Appearances/Goals Scored: Patrick Bamford 175/56 Chris Wood 83/41 Jermaine Beckford: 126/71 Lucciano Becchio: 1...

Re: New number 9

Probably Chris Wood as a straightforward 9. Roofe was more of a winger or play of the big guy striker. Pierre-Michel Lasogga (the german fella on loan) maybe could be classed as a straightforward 9 too. maybe even JKA.... Yes, I would probably have gone for Chris Wood as well - around 30 goals in o...

Re: New number 9

As a matter of interest, when do people think that we last signed a really decent no 9 at the club ? Personally speaking, I wouldn't classify Bamford as a really decent no 9, due to his inconsistent form, his lengthy goal droughts, his fragile confidence, plus him being very injury prone over the ye...

Re: QPR v Leeds Utd - Post Match Discussion

What a disgraceful performance - Leeds falling apart again. Before the international break I had quite a high regard for Farke - now his deficiencies as a manager have become very apparent. Performance wise we have fallen off the edge of a cliff since the break, but the players need to remember that...

Re: Joel Piroe

I said back in October, or sometime around then, that if we're relying on Bamfraud in the run in, we're screwed! And surprise, surprise. Farke has frozen out Piroe with ridiculous 5 min sub appearances and destroyed all his confidence. Then there's players like Gelhardt, who could offer something f...

Re: Joel Piroe

I think how we have used Joel this year has been criminal. He's gone from the hottest property in the Championship to this. Not only does he look like he has forgotten how to score but also what he actually is supposed to do. Almost as if his goal scoring brain is now stuck in pre-season mode reall...

Re: Blackburn Rovers Post Match Discussion

A lot of doom and gloom here. I never thought we are good enough to get into direct promotion. The team has been quickly built, and has huge weaknesses. We fail with the dominate game plan. But the play offs are different than the league. I hope the team and manager get it. I think we will go up vi...

Re: Blackburn Rovers Post Match Discussion

Since Bamford scored 7 goals in 10 games on our unbeaten run between 1st Jan & 8th March, we've won two drawn two & lost two games with Paddy not scoring in any of those matches. Ratings for Bamford and Piroe from another site ; Joel Piroe – 3 Despite Leeds’ attacking dominance in the game,...

Re: Blackburn Rovers Post Match Discussion

A comment from another site ; " Patrick Bamford’s place in the side has looked at risk for a number of matches now, and so taking him out of the team was the right call by Farke. However, bringing in Piroe was not. He has shown time and time again this season he does not have the attributes to p...

SG90 wrote: Sat Apr 13, 2024 12:31 pm Yeah Rutter's offering nothing and is too predictable. But Farke has no plan b outside of pass to Jimmy and Geo.
Plus Rutter's finishing is non -existent. At least Piroe might pop up with a goal from deeper.

Farke's been too ' loyal ' to some players.
