Re: Southampton post match discussion

Sorry Weasel but for some reason you've attached yourself to this manager and are just happy to make excuses for him which you'd have never done for anyone else bar Bielsa. Why does his difficult summer now extend till the end of September? That's a new one, most people had happily accepted August ...

Re: Southampton post match discussion

 Just making the point that when we were having a good season you had nothing to say. So what - I just decided to take a break from this forum, and enjoy a bit of peace away from the kind of snide/barbed comments which you just came up with as a good example. When thing were going well I had...

Re: Southampton post match discussion

I think I would be fair in saying that although we did amazing with Revie we were the nearly men so many times and that team should have won more trophies. A lot of that was down to the fact that the team was so good that they were stretched over several fronts - the league, European football and t...

Re: Southampton post match discussion

Nice to see you back, nothing like a crisis you see you come banging your drum. As someone born in Leeds, and who grew up in a city in which the feats of Revie and his team were part of everyday life, I think I am a bit more of a Leeds/ LUFC person through and through than some others who attach th...

Re: Southampton post match discussion

I'm glad you bought this up. Pressure, think Warnock mentioned it, possibly Allardyce as well. Phil mentioned it in his articles and possibly even his book. The pressure of managing LUFC is unlike practically any other club. It's been hard enough for promotion specialists like Warnock, even Javi Gr...

Re: New number 9

He basically cost us 850k a minute up to £40mil for absolutely fook all (no goals no assists). I don't imagine you will find a player in football history worse. So they probably right  There can't have been a worse signing in football history surely ? I could have run frenetically around the p...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 3rd April) Farke gets his excuses in early

We got Jaidon Anthony because we lost Sinisterra. And at the same time, Gnonto was brooding. So we didn't know what we'd get from him. That made James and Summerville our two starting wingers. We did look like we needed back up at the time. Having said that, Anthony has been a disappointment. Didn'...

Re: Our total end of season points prediction

So we finished on 90 points which was slighty less than anticipated but the season ended as predicted with non of the contenders able to keep their incredible runs going and get to 100 points. Still a very good season overall which should not be forgotten. Somehow though it feels feel like we've be...

Re: Daniel Farke

He is a decent manager , better by far than Marsche or Gracia as I think they would have equally struggled in this division. Bielsa though , with this squad ....I think 100 points plus , this squad is far better than any Bielsa had here , he turned bang average into better players for a while , ok ...

The only problem with this is that when we went top with 10 games to go, we had 82 points....

8 points out of a possible 30 is relegation form...we could have won 4 games, drawn two and lost 4 in those last 10 games and still gone up in 2nd on goal difference.

Re: Southampton post match discussion

So a club which has failed to gain promotion in all 4 of its previous play off involvements starting from 1987, fielding a team which has been in relegation form over the last 8 matches. I mean what could possibly go wrong ?? IMO many of the current problems are a lingering legacy and handicap of th...

Something I read ; " Jean-Kevin Augustin is not just the worst Leeds United striker of all time, he also has the infamy of being the single worst signing of all time, by pretty much every single measurable metric. HITC Football did a video on it a couple of months ago where they went into far m...

Hard to tell which was his better foot - great control and explosive shooting with either. Definitely the most talented striker that's played for the club since the mid 60s, and that includes Clarke.

1964white wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 11:29 am Somehow, Wilko & his staff found Yeboah, only for George Graham to come along & rub Tony's nose in the ground, and as a consequence gave us a season of boring football.

Re: New number 9

Yeboah scored with thunderbolts, passing the ball into the net plus tap-ins. Also scored overhead kicks, rounding a keeper, headers, goals with his left & right foot. A complete striker! Unbelievably good in one of our poorest teams during the 90s, in-between our league title winning side &...

Re: New number 9

Some would say Viduka or Hasselbaink. Top-notch for me would be Yeboah. 8-) At League One/championship level --- Jermaine Beckford, although he never played for Leeds in the championship. All three were top notch I would say. I can still remember the thrill of marvelling at Yeboah early in the 1995...

Agree with that Chapel  Paddy can go on a buy one, Meslier, and get two free deal, Paddy and Cooper = cya  Chris Wood is the last decent striker we've had. Just for comparison: Appearances/Goals Scored: Patrick Bamford 175/56 Chris Wood 83/41 Jermaine Beckford: 126/71 Lucciano Becchio: 1...
