I'm already 234 albums into this, and can't face going through 40+ rap albums again. Here's the link to the random generator, if anyone wants to use that. I listen on Apple Music.faaip wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 9:12 am Awful lot of rap on there and repetition, Hip Hop not bad for me but has Rainy pulling out her hair I think. About 30% is new to me, about 25% of that is junk...
Wernham Hogg of waccoe designed a nice programme for a one a day hit where you can rank and comment on the album. Excellent thread over there.

I ignored that link as not everybody likes giving their e.mail address to sites they don't know.SaraM wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 12:51 pm I'm already 234 albums into this, and can't face going through 40+ rap albums again. Whatever you prefer Nick.
This topic is designed to encourage members to discuss the albums in the link I posted up in my opening post.
I actually bought the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book in the Dales about five years ago.

It's safe. It was built by a waccoer

Not that means much... or you could use a secondary email account. I have about 5

I changed the rules a little to make it easier & safeguard for our MOT'ers which is more of a concern to me.

Count me in 64.
I think I’ve got two copies of this book upstairs somewhere and I did start doing it on the link format months ago, but didn’t get far

247 - Curtis Mayfield - Superfly - Spotify bamboozled me by playing different Mayfield tracks from different albums, so I had to adjourn to Youtube. A film soundtrack which I surprisingly, mostly, quite enjoyed. All the tracks were to do with drug use, so I will probably give the film a miss, as it sounded very bleak. I preferred the instrumentals to the ballads, but it wasn't the chore I expected it to be. Some of the music reminded me of an old US cop show, but I cannot place it - maybe Starsky and Hutch or Hawaii 5 O - 3/5

872 - Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs - Spotify behaved for this one, but I wished it hadn't. I had heard of the band name, but didn't know what to expect. In the end I only got halfway through. Songs very wishy washy, vocals not very good, synths awful. Gains a solitary mark for some nice sax. 1/5

So that’ll be:
Royksopp - ‘Melody A.M.’ - which I have, but don’t play that often
OMD ‘Architecture and Morality’ - well played in the early 80’s, but not too often now
The Byrds - ‘Sweetheart of the Rodeo’ when I was getting the daily album via the link this was the 2nd or 3rd one that I got and I’d never listened to it before, but got to say that I liked it. Now have it downloaded.
Will give Royksopp and OMD a re-visit.

Three a day is a bit much for me. The new earbuds have now been worn in, however the Mrs spent most of the day shouting and waving her arms at me. I don't mind doing one a day.

Buck Owens and his Buckeroos 'I Got a Tiger by the Tail'
I wouldn't have given this album the time of day a few decades ago especially when it was released in 1965, then it was the Beatles, Stones, mersey sound & all the other 60's pop artists filling my head. Over the years country music has grown on me probably down to listening to Bob Harris radio shows.
As for Buck & the Buckeroos (what a great name for a band) this album is quite pleasant, love the pedal steel guitar from Tommy the Buckaroo, this won't be everybody's cuppa a tea (probably no one). One positive has to be I didn't press the stop button as I suspect I'll do with several albums. 3/5

Three for me will be too many on most days.
You can take as long as you want to listen to your allocated three albums, once you finished let me know & I'll throw three more numbers your way.

24 - Joan Baez - Joan Baez - Again I know this fairly well, got played a lot by an uncle who was a big fan. Not something I can listen to these days, a bit too folky for me and the voice a bit too good to be enjoyable, gave it a 5 minute run around again but gave up quickly - 2/5
39 - Charlie Mingus - Black Saint and Sinner Lady - Not his best work but interesting none the less, always liked Mingus going back years. Just the right side of experimental jazz 4/5
201 - James Taylor - Sweet Baby James - Generic singer songwriter stuff, some good some meh. What's good is good though but I wouldn't buy it. My ex left it with me. If I never listen to Steamroller blues again it'll be too soon. Again an arbitrary flick through is all that's needed to confirm what I already knew - 2/5 - It ain't no John Martyn
