League One & Two Thread

Post by 1964white »

Scraping the barrel out here but.....

Is there another Ipswich coming up from League One?

Portsmouth & Derby County have both enjoyed successful periods in the past.

Looking at the table, Pompey have only lost five games this season, both appear defensively sound, though neither team has scored as many goals as their play-off rivals.

I notice the awful Jordan Rhodes has found his level, playing for Blackpool, who missed out on the play-offs at the weekend.

Bolton Wanderers secured their place in the League One play-off final, despite losing 3-2 to Barnsley in their semi-final second leg.

Bolton had looked almost certain to book their spot at Wembley when, having won the first leg 3-1 at Oakwell, they recovered from going behind at home to lead 5-2 on aggregate at half-time.

Oxford United beat Peterborough United 2-1 on aggregate in their League One play-off semi-final to set up a meeting with Bolton at Wembley.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, it was Posh who netted first in the return fixture at the Weston Homes Stadium, Josh Knight smartly placing the ball into the far corner of Jamie Cumming’s goal from a set-piece after a fiery start.

The U's equalised through Cameron Brannagan in first-half added time when the 27-year-old slotted home from the penalty spot after Harrison Burrows handled the midfielder's powerful free-kick in the area.

Despite plenty of pressure from the hosts after the break, Oxford defended superbly and will now face Wanderers on 18 May for the chance of promotion to the Championship.

If we aren't promoted and maybe even if we are we could do a lot worse than going for 2 of stars of that Peterborough side.

Left back Harrison Burrows may have gave away a pen but League 1 Player of The Year and got 6 goals and 15 assists from left back.

And centre back Ronnie Edwards is seen in a similar way they saw Ben White.

Young Burrrows looks like a decent left-back, a good range of passes, crosses & scores goals.

Very disappointed. It was a brilliant run by Donny to make the playoffs. They won 10 in a row, then drew on the last day. Looked favourites for the playoffs. Then took the away leg 2-0. As I told one of my hometown mates "So Leedsy."

Former Leeds U21's player, Max Dean starts for MK Dons tonight against Crawley. Dons have a 3-0 deficit to overturn if they are to play at Wembley.
