Pre QRP Press Conference - Hernandez back, Bamford a doubt

Post by YorkshireSquare »

Ahead of the QPR game Marcelo Bielsa had some good news for Leeds fans at his press conference, Pablo Hernandez is fit and could feature on Saturday. Liam Cooper and Jamie Shackleton also both played for the Under 23s on Monday and are expected to be available on Saturday. There was some fresh injury news though with Patrick Bamford, Gjanni Alioski and Barry Douglas all doubts along with the longer terms absentee Adam Forshaw. Bielsa also spoke about Leeds having the best defence in the world, Robbie Gotts and Jack Clarke. Here is what he had to say…

Best defence in the league - what is the improvement?
When we defend we defend with all the players. Defensive players help to defend better. We have had very high levels in individual performances. It's the real reason to explain this reality. We have experience too. Ayling, Casilla, Cooper, Berardi, Douglas who are all experienced players. We have young players who have learned quickly like Phillips and White.

Robbie Gotts - what is his best position?
He's a number eight. He's a midfielder not a defensive player or an attacker. He is good at his position. You never see a player who plays with such a dynamic. He has a lot of skills. In this position we have Klich, Forshaw, Shackleton and Dallas. It's a tough competition. Everyone in the team respects him. I wish to give him minutes one day.

How has Jack Clarke been?
He is improving. Clarke has a process which allows him to play in the first team. After he had a problem but now step by step he is finding his level. When one attacker plays well. He immediately becomes a resource for the manager. Clarke is the same option as Pablo, Helder and Harrison.

Pablo back is a boost?
He is a player who when he isn't there we miss him. If Pablo plays against Sheffield Wednesday it doesn't mean we would win. We missed him of course. Helder Costa is growing from match to match. He is good cover.
