I'm going with the:

I wasn't a fan of Brothers in Arms either, but it seemed like if you bought a CD player it was included because everyone with a disc player had a copy of the album.

But you can't put that whiney voiced recording artist (no way I can call him a singer) in that category....

Think I bought around 30 CD's before I ever got a CD player, was saving up for a high quality one but didn't see the sense buying one then having nothing to play on it.

Young I can take or leave, his voice isn't as bad as Jaggers to be fair... but I'd rather stick CSN on than Neil

You must be a lot older than me because the early 90's music scene to me was awesome.

I was still at school, coming up to leaving and going onto college.

The air was rife with Nirvana,Manic Street Preachers,Sugar, Fugazi, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam,TAD, Pavement, Babes in Toyland, There were loads of exciting bands to my young self.

And MTV was awesome during the early 90's too.

Excellent ears.......As with any genre or sub-genre there were a lot of crap, copycat acts that followed but most of those you mention were top quality bands.........I was less of a fan of the more metal orientated grunge bands such as Pearl Jam and Soundgarden than I was Nirvana, Tad and Mudhoney but they all forged a trail that many later on tried to mimic but not even half as well.
Also, may be controversial but Sugar were every bit as great a project at Husker Du.......only with better production.

You have good taste! But the 80s was better than the 90s! I feel like music went downhill after 93/94.

I hated hip hop and rave stuff, I just thought it was vacuous shite. .

Rave was vacuous, it was the point. It was fun, an escape, for a few hours everyone loved everyone and thought everything was great.

I'm not as big a fan of hip hop, tbh I really just liked certain acts like Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest etc. But I'd say not many genres pushed social and political issues as much as it.
