Oh, I just read the OP for the first time and it was very emotional .

This is such a tough illness. We had a childhood friend here in Norway who also got this diagnosis in his 30s. For him it was litterally a slow death, getting weaker and weaker as the weeks passed and in the end he could not move an inch of his body himself if I can recall correctly and passed away.

His last wish was to watch Liverpool at Anfield and it was fulfilled. His story was also told on national TV here.

One of our neighbours passed away today from MND. A lovely, sprightly 70 year old, who was taken from us within a year of contracting this awful disease. She was extremely fit for her age, and used to love going on long rambles in the local area with her husband and our dog, after they lost their own dog to old age. The first sign of the illness, was a change to her voice, and she went rapidly downhill after that, and will be a great loss to our community. RIP Barbara.

What a mate to have in your corner. Kevin could be earning loads as a pundit in that time but choses to endure pain for his friend.

Research out of Sheffield University has developed a treatment that has halted and reversed the effect of MND in 2% of the trialists that gives hope for something that was only a one way ticket. This shows that the research money is helping with this horrible disease.

Hundreds of mourners lined the streets for a final farewell to rugby league legend and motor neurone disease (MND) campaigner Rob Burrow.

His funeral was held in a private service at Pontefract Crematorium and was attended by 161 invited guests.
Although the service was for invited guests only, the public had been encouraged to line the route of his final journey.

Crowds gathered on the roads of the funeral procession route, with many people wearing rugby shirts bearing Burrow's name and shirt number seven on the back.

People travelled as far afield as London, Wigan and the Wirral to pay their respects.

As the hearse carrying his coffin passed by, it was met by applause, with mourners becoming emotional.

Yellow and white flowers were thrown onto the windscreen from people standing on the roadside.

Yesterday I cycled 125 miles around the Suffolk countryside to raise money for MND.
I did it with a my cycling group of friends in memory of our good friend Ian, who was tragically killed in May. This charity ride was his idea.
We set off at 3am in the dark and took in routes towards Newmarket and then Bury St Edmunds.
After the ride there was a BBQ and raffle and it was attended by people from the MNDA.
A great day and we're well on the way to reaching our 5K target.
