Would stop much of the time-wasting if they applied the same in the Premier League.

By the way, I’ve just watch the highlights of the England game and the contrast between Maguire’s penalty claim early on which was not given and Iran’s late penalty claim which was given is quite shocking. The fact that there is a great (possibly insidious) inconsistency in refereeing/VAR couldn’t have been made clearer.

The original penalty shout denied didn’t matter seeing as England went on to win comfortably anyway, neither did the penalty shout given as England were 5-1 up at the time, but had the match been closer and those penalty claims were the deciding factor, then where do you go from there? Also what if the final league positions are decided on goal difference and England lose out by the odd goal, I don’t think they will but it could happen, then what?

If anybody is in any doubt about the shocking inconsistency in Ref/VAR decisions then just have a rewatch of these two incidents.

Absolute rubbish. I think we dodged a bullet with him. It’s easy see why he can’t get near the Athletic team this season.

I don't think I saw the pens but the lack of consistency this World Cup has been poor.
