Not a chance. Been lucky with easy draws and bottled it.

Sven had much harder matches in comparison.

Harry Kane will break all scoring records for club, country and league. He is easily the only England player in "the best in his position in the world" conversation. Just how many more should he score?

Robson is still idolised for beating a very average Belgium and the Cameroons, Venables had one great result v Holland and people still bang on about '96.

I wonder if Roy Keane thinks he'll turn to stone if he laughs ?
Not dependent on Google, the www or 'stats' - Just a guy that puts his eyes to full use on the beautiful game :geek:

Thought Kane was great today, especially holding up the ball. Adams couldnt get the ball off him, which I think we'd all agree is a very rare statement. Nothing fell to him outside that last header (which woulda been a tough finish with Zimmerman glued to him) but that's the English midfield's problem.

Our boys too, Swannie.

I'd have been annoyed had England nicked it, they deserved nothing, same old England & so overrated.

I agree tbh. He gets too much stick. They’ll hammer Wales as they will have to come out & play.

Doesn't deserve the England record and won't beat Shearer. Remind me what he did tonight? That's every game for England, but gets bailed out by the odd penalty. Rashford or Wilson deserve a chance. We never picked Vardy because of the Kane obsession.

96 was down to home advantage, as was 66 and 2020. No one really talks about Venables it's Gazza, etc they do.

England were utter dross. The likes of Mount, Sterling, Kane, Saka were an embarassment. We offered nothing in midfield and mediocre at best. If we come up against the likes of Brazil, France or Spain we'll be taught a footballing lesson. Hopefully this is the last WC for Southgate.

Apparently England have had the most 0-0s at the WC of any nation. Why doesn't that surprise me?!

How does a record goal scorer not deserve to be record scorer?

He's actually well ahead of Shearer on goals per game, plus Shearer has his stats improved by far more goals from penos than Kane (almost double the Kane penos)...
