This player is on a par with Joffy, with perhaps a slightly higher potential

So why buy what we already have and rarely use?

Please I hope there is nothing to this story
Well we bought Perkins and Joseph who are also direct competition for Gelhardt

So why waste our investment by bringing in another to compete with him?

I'm not really sure what our plan is tbh, it just seems to be stockpiling young forwards.

Just hope if he signs Victor doesn't come out with his usual "I've been following him for years".

Will look a bit daft given could have signed him for £500k 2 years ago.

Phil Hay explained this regarding De Ketelaere.

The club occasionally have targets who they view as an investment, players they feel can make a massive profit on.

That is what Rutter is.

They may be able to sign an older player more ready or more proven (remember Martin Terrier last season whose had another brilliant season but ruined by injury now).

But the primary motivation will always be how much we can sell for (we didn't go for Terrier because he was to old at 24/25).

So that is what they are doing

They see Rutter as someone they can sell for huge money.

I'm sure we could find a more proven player for the price of Rutter but the club want that sell on potential.

And Rutter is clearly full of potential so the club would rather take that risk I suppose.

Seems very expensive tbh. There's been plenty of "wonderkids" over the years. Surprised I've not heard of him, I thought I knew all the young ballers. 🤔 Mind you I hadn't heard of Kvichy before we were linked...

He does and that seems to be what those who know are saying (not being negative He looks exciting).

But he is raw, largely unproven and a risk especially at that price.

But the fact he wants to come is a plus for me, usually these investment signings don't :)

We don't need more raw players tbh, we need someone good at 1v1s and a clinical finisher

That is what Rutter is for Hoffenheim, they are turning a 750k into near 30M.
How they hell do we expect that lad to make us money?

It is plainly, stupid.

Will that player be able to contribute in our relegation battle? No.

But I suppose it will be another child the clueless Marsch can throw out there when the points are slipping away...

Perhaps one reason why decent players won't come to us is that they don't want to work for that idiot.

We know the owners are careful with financials so I’m not reading too much in to whether or not we can afford it, they have built up a rainy day fund or the 49ers are finally providing some cash.

Just because we are at the arse end of the table dosnt mean we can’t continue to sign younger players. Would anyone really prefer to spend 15+ million on ings or wood?

Chris Wood definitely not, but I would Ings.

Obviously you won’t make any profit when/if selling, but he guarantees goals and probably preserves Premier League status.

Scoring goals doesn’t really seem to be our problem right now. At least it isn’t nearly the problem the defense is.

Seven million for a defender and thirty million for a striker? Seems our priorities are a bit skewed.

Agreed. We've got enough prospects, we need a few players with big game experience. For all the obsession with resale value, another season in the PL would absolutely dwarf any resale value anyway.

Also why can't we just sign a player to improve the squad rather than obsessing over selling players?

There is one obvious aspect with Rutter, with Wober, Adams, with all Leeds United signings. Again and again and again.

It's why we don't go for the Danny Ings or Nick Popes.

Wober is said to have been on 20k pw. Rutter is on a reported 15k pw at Hoffenheim. He will have low wage expectations. Ings is on 120k plus.

I appreciate there is a massive difference in salary, and I never truly believe the wages that are banded about to be honest, but even if Ings is on that level of salary it’s circa £6M a year.

If he keeps you up, it’s money well spent in comparison to PL income

But we don't do that. If there is one common thread in Leeds transfers, it's that the players they sign are on relatively low salaries.

According to the German media, we've offered Rutter £68k a week! That's an enormous jump and completely unnecessary.

I agree, and I’m saying it doesn’t make sense when you compare even over inflated salaries against PL income.

He is clearly talented, I don't doubt that.

But I agree, the price is stupid, we should have been there 2 years ago not now.

But the club see him as someone they can make money on.

He fits the versatile pressing style etc apparently.

So that's what they want.
