And the results are SCREAMING for him to be sacked. I was prepared to give him February if we got a result today. Not now. After that 2nd half performance any reasonable person can see it’s not working. Forrest got their goal and parked the bus. And behind the bus they had Keylor Navas. We had no answers. None!!

The team needs new ideas. A new voice. And I have no idea who that is. I just know it ain’t Jesse Marsch.
That's great that Paul, I agree with it, but, what about the clueless pillocks on t' pitch, why didn't they take charge, we had sooooooo much possession but ran out of ideas, who's fault is that when the game is flowing !!
why don't the players stand up and be counted !!
how many missed chances !!
how many times were they clueless !!
how many times were we rudderless !!
where was our captain running at the ref screaming that there are 2 teams here that deserve equal treatment !!
Yes Jesse will soon be gone, but, I don't want some of those spineless f..ers still here taking their money home when I'm as angry as ......kin hell.

I’ve always wanted Marsch to succeed as if he is succeeding so are we as a team and surely that’s all any of us want.

It feels like we’ve arrived at a crossroads after travelling down the road towards it for quite some time although I know other posters feel we arrived at the crossroads and should have changed direction a while ago.

For me at the start of the season Jesse hadn’t been given all the tools he needed to be given the maximum chance to succeed at doing his job, however with the arrival of Chris Armas and the January signings the board have given him the tools to give him the best chance of making it work, the question for me is does he have the ability to use those tools? It would feel harsh to give him the boot after just 1 premier league game of having all the tools in place, but how long can you give him to see if he has it in locker to get it working?

I don’t envy the board having to make this decision, better the devil you know, or twist on an unknown quantity?

BreakingTheDuck wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 10:42 pm Here is the argument for keeping him until end of season:

• In the games since the WC break, Leeds is 0-3-3 in PL, and 2-1-0 in cup. But by both XG and the naked eye test Leeds performed better (in all except finishing) in 7 out of those 9.

• Despite claims he is over his head, his managerial resume is pretty typical for a young lower level PL coach. His “Chaos is a ladder” tactics are extreme, but not unconsidered, based on the Ralf Rangnick school.

• Changing managers makes sense when the manager loses the dressing room, or their tactics have been found out. But despite some weaknesses inherent in the system, we haven’t been blown out in any game in quite a long time.

• The playing staff have been brought in with Jesse’s system in mind, so a mid-season replacement is going to likely be Ralph Hasenhüttl, not Pochettino. Just so you get your expectations correct.
For me, none of this matters now. I went on record after the Villa game saying he should go immediately to give his successor a chance to turn things round, others argued for a stay of execution till the end of February. Since then, we have dropped 7 points from a possible 9 and managers who we might well have looked at have gone elsewhere.

Performances don't matter now, tactics don't matter now, egos don't matter now - if Jesse can't get enough points on the board with the many players he's been given to keep us up, we need shot of him at once - and I don't think he has what it takes to change things quickly enough.

Apparently Marsch turned down Milner ... that may have been a better short term play than McKennie

And Corberan has been linked. Apologies if already posted. I'd imagine that would be til the end of the season and rethink then.. But 30 from 39 for the Spaniard after taking over a relegation zone WBA...

Radz will need the 49ers to agree to pay to sack Marsch I'd imagine.

He definitely isn't finding the money for it.

Think I've already said that .... he's one of the lowest paid managers so there's that

Please no!

Look no further than the man at the top of the league, if we are going down the route of a coach from the championship.

I agree with a lot of this. Bielsa would think more deeply about football over one cup of Costa coffee in Wetherby than Marsch will ever manage in his entire life. But so be it, we are where we are. There are worse out there and I'd be worried we'd go for them.
It 's not like we're getting battered in every game, a win or 2 and we'd be in midtable.

I suppose Corberan adds continuity.

Continuity is an apparent mainstay of the boards strategy, so on that basis the natural attraction is there. He knows a lot of the players, but is he ready to step up. Massive gamble all things considered, but that is where we are at right now.

We may have reached the point where we ask ourselves, could he do any worse.

Company would be a good appointment, but I cannot see him leaving Burnley. They are pretty much guaranteed promotion.

This is true I agree

But there are more successful managers out there from that school of tactics.

Adi Hutter
Oliver Glasner

Etc

We aren't going to get the perfect appointment.

But someone with a better track record than Marsch should be entirely possible

Naked eye test told me we really didn't do enough to deserve the win. Only league match where we created a fe decent chances was the Villa one.

• Despite claims he is over his head, his managerial resume is pretty typical for a young lower level PL coach. His “Chaos is a ladder” tactics are extreme, but not unconsidered, based on the Ralf Rangnick school.

Trouble is Rangnick was a failure here as was his disciple Ralph Hassenthutal

• Changing managers makes sense when the manager loses the dressing room, or their tactics have been found out. But despite some weaknesses inherent in the system, we haven’t been blown out in any game in quite a long time.

Tactics have been found out and that is also part of the reason we aren't getting blown out. Teams have adjusted their tactics because they know going at us leaves them vulnerable to our swarming high press. Villa sat deep, Brentford sat deep, Forest sat deep even Newcastle and Man City were wary. City played us perfectly, they didn't go gung ho but probed away without giving us a sniff up front. The first time we swarmed forward they ripped us open and scored. Teams know if they go for us we have the ability to score goals, if they sit back they know we are vulnerable from our own attacks. Villa demonstrated it perfectly scoring from our corner, Accrington nearly mirrored it in the cup.

• The playing staff have been brought in with Jesse’s system in mind, so a mid-season replacement is going to likely be Ralph Hasenhüttl, not Pochettino. Just so you get your expectations correct.

Considering that Aaronsen and Rasmus have looked lost in JM's system it may benefit them playing in a different system. As such the only other players to be brought in specifically to be able to play the JM way are Adams and Wober. Adams I am sure will have no problem adapting to better tactics, seems okay doing it for the USMNT and Wober should have no problem either. I would have hoped the board would see fit to move away completely from the JM/RB type tactics that have now failed with 3 managers that tried to play it.

Can there be many worse, really?

I did a post the other day which showed that Marsch had done worse in the same amount of games that Lampard had has at Everton. I'd even take Hecingbottom over Marsch, christ probably Hockaday too.
