Flopped massively at his only big job in Greece.
Football is dire to watch

Most people will say departing from what we’re doing to a different style will be difficult and dangerous mid season but I don’t believe that. It’s still football. I’m sure they can adapt and by the look on some of their faces they’d probably enjoy a change

Not a bad shout, Jay

We need to do something different as under Marsch, plan A is not effective.

Whilst not saying Corberan would be my first choice it would make a lot of sense. Forgot the Greece job it is hard to know what went on there and he was only there a few minutes. At Huddersfield he took a side tipped for relegation to the play-offs and at WBA he has got them shooting up the table from a relegation place. Both of those jobs are the sort of impact we need now, picking up teams low on confidence and getting them going quickly.

Marcelino would be a really good shout imo, he isn't at Bilbao anymore (Ernesto Valverde is who I wanted to replace Bielsa) so is available.JoeDenver wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 2:51 am Thanks for the list, Cjay!
Roger Schmidt would be an absolute coup, but I doubt it will happen. Doing incredible things with Benfica.
Marcelino is another one that I feel might work, but am not sure how keen he’d be to leave Athletic Bilbao. 49er money might get him excited, though. Clearly knows how to do more with less (and is familiar with some of our players)
I think given scheme continuity, Adi Hutter or Ralph Hasenhüttl make some sense, but they aren’t the most exciting of selections. However both might be an improvement to Marsch (although Hasenhüttl‘s 9-0 losses in his past with Southampton frankly scare me).
Tough call.

Ange Postecoglou has a very high opinion of himself given he is the Australian Steven Gerrard.Anonymous wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 1:21 pm Managers approached so far, according to someone claiming an inside connection:

Throw in his links with Leeds and familiarity with the players as well as knowing how they were able to play and it lessens the risk that it is a far tougher job in the Premier League than in the championship. As to the dire football that can be viewed too ways. 1) It may have been bad to watch but 2) It shows he is capable of practicality and not setting a team up with silly tactics. Making us able to win ugly, like Forest did, Like Brentford do etc may be what we need right now. Then he can work on the players in the summer to impose a nicer looking style of play as we have better players than he would have had at Huddersfield and WBA.

Jones did well at League 2 and 1 rather than championship, sacked by Stoke. Even his success was only at 1 club whereas Corberan has shown he has been able to repeat his initial success despite a setback in between. That suggests less of a fluke i.e. were Luton already on the up and likely to have done just as well without Jones - akin to Heckingbottom's promotion with Barnsley.

He got Luton to 6th in the Championship last years as well on a much smaller budget than Corberan has at WBA.weasel wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 2:03 pm Jones did well at League 2 and 1 rather than championship, sacked by Stoke. I can see a lot of sense in it albeit it a very risky appointment - although any appointment carries some element of risk.
