Re: Jesse Marsch- Rejects Leicester job

Post by BGwhite »

Why would anyone want the job. 3rd bottom, no form, only one guaranteed victory left at ER ,no one wants relegation on their CV. Only 8 games left to get them out of the mire. No thanks.

Beggars can't be choosers springs to mind?

He was highly rated once.

But has now had 2 jobs in top European leagues and lasted less than a year in both.

Elite level management is a relatively small old boys club.

But at the same you can quickly become forgotten and his reputation certainly in major European football is on its knees.

I think the Leicester job was a great opportunity tbh for someone who probably hasn't earned it.

The squad is more than good enough

But I'm not convinced he rejected it or its more a case of Leicester not being convinced and Marsch saving face?

That would be my thinking

Rob Tanner (Leicester Phil Hay) has been pretty adamant the appointment of Marsch was a worst case scenario

Can't get A, B, C, D, E

Get Marsch

Wonder if Marsch has seen this and got in first.

Or maybe he really does have that high an opinion of himself? Rejected Southampton, now Leicester?

He does seem arrogant enough (similar to Frank)

Guess he still respects the club and wouldn't want to play a part in relegating us? Fair play to him if so

I would think Marsch would be pushing hard for the USMNT job, though he might not be a 1st choice there, either.

It’s simple. Marsch is interested only in clubs interested in a project, not 3 months and a paycheck. Good on him

Give the job to Gary Lineker....oh hang on a minute. He's happy sitting in his MOTD chair, slagging off all other managers. Oh Gary, I would just love you to put your money where your mouth is.....and get out there, just once. No? Of course not, you're too cosy waddled in the comforted arms of the BBC.

Sky Sports News is reporting that Leicester have decided not to pursue it rather than Marsch turning it down

I'd be guessing that 1 of 2 scenarios happened.

1) If JM rejected the job it was likely due tot he contract offered. He will still be getting paid by Leeds but if he takes another job I am sure that would mean his contract with Leeds is terminated at that point. As such any offer made to him would need to be worth more than the remainder of his Leeds contract or it makes no financial sense for him to take the job. Southampton reportedly only offered him a short contract and maybe Leicester did the same.

2) The Leicester board may have gotten a fan backlash when news broke about them looking to appoint JM. Similar to us with that sacked Dutch guy it may have forced the board into a climb down and they decided to look elsewhere. At this point of the season they really need to be looking at getting a manager that will instantly get the fans on side so that they get fully behind the club.

Fans are influencing boards more and more, and as fans en masse that means lowest common denominator and that's not good...

Don’t worry I’ll bring in you as part of the back room/behind the bike shed team.
