Football is broken for nostalgia purists. The premiership is the most successful income generating export of the game across the globe.
Unfortunately, the government and the powers that be in football are happy to except any additional investment from overseas. This is a reflection of modern society. My lads who are early 20’s have a contrasting view to mine on the health of football. They love it, but they do not have a legacy comparison.
Ownership aside, which is very politicised, there are many additional aspects of the game which are also toxic - VAR, players wages, theatrics and cheating, lack of respect for officials etc.
However, to many this is part of the overall package that makes it exciting. If a flawed rich benefactor was looking to buy the club with promises of significant investment, any moral objections would be very limited. The Saudi’s backed by the U.K. government to buy Newcastle has effectively set the precedent for any future club buyouts.

Can we please keep this topic on track about how fantastic Bert was for this club and how stupid people were to want him removed.

This is what passes for debate amongst Newcastle fans.
"Our owner may saw up journalists...but others probably do too".
Apart from Man City, could you name say 5 owners you think may have dismembered people or committed other human rights abuses (with specifics)? Thanks.

A study of Bongo's posts is a lesson in how effective it is. Instead of Saudi Arabia having one spokesperson (I guess we can say spokesman, given the regime) explain why persecuting gay people is fine, they have tens of thousands. And the posts don't stand up to the slightest scrutiny, it's just a litany of whataboutery about British and US policy, when of course neither the British nor US Government own a football club.

Was he, could've swore he was left, my memory ain't what it was Weasel, he's a twat anyway.
It seems Capitalism, democracy and money is the only way that things work, countries everywhere now in the 3rd world striving for it, you only have to take a look at the vehicles driving around India etc to see the planet can't and won't sustain it, and there's no turning back, population as well, heading to 10 billion and impossible to stop, lack of water etc, we're doomed i tell thee, doomed.
It's like good said - Look at this beautiful paradise i've created on this planet, and evil said - yeah reet, watch me, i'll put just 1 thing there that'll fck it all up for thi, enter the human race.
Right i'm off to 'Google' - 'Gnostic' meaning, i've heard of agnostic, think that's summert to do with God non believers, and i believe in God, he worked miracles in Leeds.

I don't agree that capitalism and money is the only way things can work, and I don't think what we have is really democracy.
That is taking us further into general chat territory though.
I agree, i'm a strong believer that a certain group of people are running the Western world, illuminati, there's definitely summert goin on with all these wars keep having to kick off to sustain growth in the economy, generalisation that.

Indeed, this mass generalisation of an entire system/culture is convenient. Saudi Arabia is the UK's main trading entity in the Middle East profit over ethics. I didn't really see much of a moral outrage when Leeds went to Myanmar. Wolves owned by an owner from a Country with a shakey human rights record (and animals), and not forgetting the internment camps for Uyghurs. Did we not have a World Cup in Qatar, with all the moral outpouring, posturing and indignation, but folk were still quick take the 'blood money' and get behind it. It doesn't make it right, but humans are a fickle species easily placated. Football at the highest level is a dirty business and morally bankrupt.Bongo1874 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 6:23 pm And you know other owners don't do this again false, you have no idea what's gone on ,and how these owners have earned there millions/ billions.
Your argument is blood money and how you despise it etc , and I agree its wrong.
But I don't see you calling out the murder your government or other organisations have caused.
Which shows a clear bias and hatred towards Saudi Arabia.
Your owner is quite happy to walk about with these blood money people too, whether you like to admit it or not your owner is a representative
Of Leeds.

But again Leeds going to a country is not the same as decapitating a journalist. One is travel, the other is dismemberment. I never say to my wife "will we go on holidays or carve someone up, they're roughly the same thing".Overman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 10:05 am I didn't really see much of a moral outrage when Leeds went to Myanmar. The Wolves owner being "from" a country where human rights abuses are perpetrated is not the same as perpetrating human rights abuses. We surely don't blame all Chinese people for the horrific fate of the Uyghurs?
As for Qatar, I think PSG's owners are almost as disgraceful as NUFC, the leaders of Myanmar, and the leaders of China, and I would be disgusted if Leeds were owned by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Myanmar or China.
Apart from NUFC, how many club owners have dismembered someone?

Let's take a small tribe/village - let's say you have a group of 50 individuals in one village, with no tv, internet etc fck all, now in that group you will have certain clever fckers, certain sporty people, certain singer, certain comedians etc etc etc, which would all make for a happy day to day life.
The clever fckers would work out where to hunt.
The fit sporty people would catch.
The women would cook.
The comedians would make all laugh.
The singers would entertain
You get my drift ? Let's go back to basics like we were put here for - sex.

Haha, nice try!
I think you're probably right that a small village is the optimum unit for humans to organise themselves.
There's also a lot to be learned from indigenous people about how to live in the world. Aboriginal culture has worked for at least 50,000 years. Modern humans have managed to screw things up to the point of destruction in under 200.
It'll end up going full circle, it'll have to, can't wait to get back ta clubbin ya over thed, then back ta mine
