Now just my opinion but what you sold him for was nowhere near his value, when you consider what the likes of grealish went for etc,

Kalvin ran the show for England at Euros ,and I say that as a Scot.

It's a shame to see how it's went for him at city.

Midfield was always an issue, but Pablo, Klich,Dallas all chipped in, and the fact Marcelo seemed to get the best out off 17 goal Bamford in the prem ,helped massively.

Rodrigo is a very hard worker, but I feel his petty complaining like Gordon did for us against Brentford , sends out the wrong message too others in team.

I would get rid don't like that sort of attitude.

Newcastle need a stopper infront of defence like Kalvin was for Leeds,to allow the likes of Bruno and others freedom to get forward 👍.
I loved Phillips for what he brought to Leeds, Leeds lad who supposedly loves the club. But does he....
Kalvin went to City for that amount because Kalvin wouldn't go anywhere else. He had us over a barrel and so did Citeh.
You say shame how it's gone for him at Citeh?, really. He took the kings shilling after listening to his mate Grealish, Kalvin believed in his own hype. He's getting what he deserves in my opinion, but hey, he's a rich boy now so it's all OK.
(Harsh words I know bongo, but Kalvin stitched us up and now he can enjoy the luxury of the Citeh bench)

Our recruitment policy has been idiotic; I'm not talking about buying James or Rutter for too much, although - but there's several roles we only have 1 player in.

We were so reliant on KP, and yes we replaced him with Adams, but now we're just as reliant on Adams and we see as soon as he gets injured we're terrible.

Bamford is the only striker we have that allows us to play long balls out from the back and Junior Firpo our only left back, unlike Adams, these two players are squad level at best.

There are too many players such as Aaronson, I can see he's got talent, but he's lacking in areas and he doesn't fit in the team. I'm constantly confused as to what he's expected to do by Javi.

There's a reliance on young players coming through to make up numbers, then we ship them out on loan after letting them rot for 6-12 months, somebody like Gray is on the bench regularly, not seen him play, don't know what his level is, but he's the sort of player we need to develop until he's good enough to start, he should never be a squad player, if that means loaning him to Ipswich, Coventry or Blackburn and signing a midfielder only to sell said midfielder after Gray kills it for 12 months, perfect, or if Gray takes 3 years to reach the level, well then we've got somebody. What we're doing with Joffy and Greenwood, it's not great for them, at least Cresswell advocated for himself and sounds like he's coming back a better player.

Really Orta needs to go.

This season, Leon? Surely that should be per game???

I was being kind to Brenden, Nick :o

21 league/cup games, falls over on an average of 3 or 4 times in a match.

More like 68

I think most of us thought he looked a player in the opening games of the season, but he's been a major disappointment. I personally wouldn't be sorry to see him move on, whatever league we're in next season.

They are absolute fools that wanted him gone.

He had a dream for us.
The sad thing is we threw his legacy away in a year and are now back to what we were before he came. Now have to start again, again

Two facts never mentioned.
1. Bielsa developed a system totally reliant on KP and PB. Yet in 3 seasons and 6 transfer windows he failed to develop or sign a ‘plan B’ for either position. When they both suffered long term injuries we had nothing. This is why the great man is no longer here.
2. Bielsa continually chose not to commit long term to the club. Of course top players would be more reluctant to sign with Leeds in January or June when the club couldn’t even confirm who it’s manager would be next season. It might be Bielsa or it might be who knows?

Bit hard for the club to have a long term plan, when you are committed to a manager who is only prepared to commit personally to 12 months.

Ok my mistake. Let me fix that.
1. Bielsa did develop excellent understudies to backfill for KP and PB.
2. Bielsa agreed to sign a long term contract to create stability and enable long term planning.

Hmmm, now that sounds like absolute nonsense.

Knew dear Kenneth would object :)

Not wrong though.

Weasel even showed the Bielsa side was entirely reliant on the fitness of KP,his record without him was awful.

And it's obvious a manager only signing 12month contracts would put some players off.

Just common sense

You will know more about Leeds than me.

But personally i don't think Kalvin moved for just money.

Remember he had prem clubs in for him when you were in championship, and call me deluded but I think he stays if Marcelo did and you target Europe every season.

We will have same problem with Bruno if certain demands aren't met, In my opinion player's can't be blamed for wanting to leave if the club don't start challenging etc for trophies,European Football.

And that's the problem my club will have, because there will be an expectation to qualify and challenge for cups, leagues etc when you are bringing in a higher quality of player.

Liverpool, and the other teams will strengthen in summer newcastle will need to up performance and levels again come next season, or they will find themselves left behind, by that I don't mean throw cash at it,I mean sign the right player's to improve squad.

Now a perfect example of this is Brighton and Brentford , teams I believe you should be challenging for European football, and continuing to progress as a club every year.

Even Fulham seem to have turned a corner.

Oh ffs, go on then, name me a team that's not dependent on certain players, have you noticed The Arse have gone fcked defensively since Saliba got crocked, do we have the money like Citeh have to buy buy buy to cover everywhere. Yes Bert's best players for him were right through the spine of the team, what are the Pool like without Van Dickhead, let's remove De Bruyne from Citeh, are they as good??? Must i go on ???

Get a grip.

And one more thing Aussie, you're not even worth entertaining and you embarrass yourself if you are way too blind to see what Bert achieved for this club, to openly admit Bert was shite, well, you shouldn't even be watching the game at all, stick to cricket champ.

On the Aussie / Kenny argument they both have a valid point to some degree.

The one year contract, which Kenny avoided was an issue, in terms of how do you create a long term strategy. Bielsa said many times and there is no getting away from this that he determines whether he will renew depending on his performance the previous season. Based on that what is the likelihood he would have left regardless - I would suggest pretty high.
Therefore as the chosen one who expected to be installed in the summer, which suggests the board knew a change was afoot, Marsch was still going to be our manager at the start of this season. Whether they pulled the trigger too early is a matter of opposing opinions.

The second season drop off is not just down to KP and Bamford. The signings did not work. There was a drop off in form for Dallas, Ayling and Harrison, who were integral parts of the previous seasons success. We replaced Alioski with Firpo, I won’t say anymore as I am trying to keep the Faaip. The replacements for KP and Bamford in a small squad were inferior but as Kenny points out this is the same at most clubs when they lose key players. Bielsa said on a number of occasions he would not sign top players to sit on the bench, they had to be better than the current incumbent. This frustrated many, myself included and particularly CJAY. Because Roberts was a mainstay. The policy was to sign younger players whom he could mould. I recall this was the strap line when we got Bates from Chelsea. It was a gamble that hasn’t paid off on the evidence currently available.

Oh ffs, Kenny didn't avoid it, it's just Kenny doesn't see it as a problem.

He's the best and i'd take him on a week to week basis if i had the chance.

Anyway, you're about to get what you wished for.

We got promoted with a flawed squad and a brilliant manager. Bielsa’s loyalty to that squad meant we depended on most of them keeping up the work rate, dedication to the system and total faith in the manager to continue to be better as a unit than they were individually. That worked in year one but couldn’t continue without an improvement in the squad.

Bielsa always said that he would never turn down a new signing suggestion by Orta and co. if the player proposed was better than what he had already in his team. Sadly the owners saw this as an out. They suggested all sorts knowing he wouldn’t take them, but they had cover to say that they had tried. The squad did not improve outside of Raphinha.

The promotion team always had weaknesses - depending on one very young keeper, dodgy defence where we didn’t replace Pontus’ aerial presence, Berardi’s bite and eventually Alioski’s team glue. Pablo’s magnificence was never replaced and how we continue to miss that kind of magic. We continued to be deluded, with Bielsa, that Bamford would be enough up front when it was clear he couldn’t do it in front of full stadia. The tactics were found out as the team grew weary.

From there on it’s been one long, slow car crash. Marsch was a bad choice and our player recruitment has been pathetic - outside of the freak signing of Gnonto. The trajectory has been down for so long now that it’s nigh on a death spiral. We can only hope that Everton, Forest and Southampton’s is worse (didn’t look it last night though).

It all went wrong not supporting Bielsa with better players second season back! For all the times I said it was right to sack him when we did: if we'd backed him with better players second season back in the Prem, he might still be here and we would be a much better team. It would have been cheaper to back him back then than it has cost us to go backwards since. Shambolic last 2 seasons...
