You really can only laugh at it now. Linked to Allardyce. And maybe he'll keep us up, because Southampton, Forest and Everton are awful too. And maybe some fans would hail him as some sort of saviour. But still...Allardyce...Jesus wept...

Not a chance we'd have lost 6-1, 5-1, 4-1 under Big Sam. However the West Brom period does leave a question mark.

We’ve only just started scraping the barrel.
We’ll take barrel scraping to new levels previously unseen.

Nearly 20 years ago lol.
He's a hoof ball merchant looking to boost his pension pot.
It will be the same style as Gracia basically
Only difference is he may terrify our little cowards into performing.

I can't imagine a team roster least suited to Sam Allardyce. Leeds management proving everyday that there is an extra level to stupid. Time to sell Radz.

Absolutely they do.
As I’ve said elsewhere, we have to change something, just to take that last roll of the dice.

Re: Next Manager
I've no problem with Allardyce coming in. Certainly wouldn't have seen it a couple of years ago but now needs must and even getting a couple of points could be the difference between staying up and going down. SA was in my opinion unfairly labelled as a long ball manager, you simply have to do the best with what you have at your disposal. To some degree it could even work with this squad, in the short term and that is where we are at. A bit like the recent Arsenal game it may be that we set up defensively but have the pace to trouble teams when we go long. Cooper is more than adept at knocking decent long balls forward and bypassing our central midfield is a sensible idea. With the pace of Gnonto, Summerville, Harrison and maybe even Rutter it could work and maybe even be a good way of playing against the likes of Man City as it nullifies a lot of their high press if we simply launch it from the back.
Get Orta and Gracia gone and give Sam the 4 matches and then re-assess in the summer.

Not a fan of Big Sam, but he's worth a shot... Any manager with any kind of CV who will come in for 4 games and probably add relegation to their record, but will do their best and give it a red hot go is worth a try.

It's what it is, yolo and all that.
But I did enjoy his Bolton side, they were old fashioned etc
But had some awesome players.
Fernando Hierro
Ivan Campo
Youri Djorkaeff
Jussi Jääskeläinen
Nicolas Anelka
Jay Jay Okocha
I don't see how it works for us though
We can't defend deep.
We don't have a big strong number 9
But yolo I guess

Hassenhuttl came to mind today as a good short term fit given there is similarity with Marsch’s system…figured that would lessen the goal differential collapse of recent while giving us a threat to achieve points in 3 of the remaining 4. Not sure about Big Sam…

I, too, was a fan of those teams at the “Reebok” as it was formerly known. Campo’s guile and “hair” combined with Okocha’s skill and athleticism as well as Djorkaeff’s outright skill and flair. They were fun to watch just to see the big guys squirm.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 11:23 pm I'd love to see Orta trying to dictate to Big Sam![]()

Re: Next Manager
That's why I mentioned about how we lined up against Arsenal with no no9 as such, no Bamford or Rodrigo. You knock it long but take it away from the central area of the pitch , either straight down the line or long diagonals. As such we'd be knocking it to the wing areas and trying to win the foot races. Gnonto, Summerville, Harrison all have the ability to pick up wide and cut inside and shoot. One of those 3 through the middle too but not as the target man but to drift wide to whichever wing the ball was being played out to.
Any team can defend deep and can be set-up to defend. Attack the ball and simply get it away, no nonsense, no messing, simply look to get it away from our box and then launch it to our wings.
Not the long term solution but a solution that involves a way of playing that can quickly be drilled into players, no pretty traingles from the back etc. Given who we have to play, City, Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs it might be a good play as they all like to play football and like to commit men forward
Got to be worth a gamble as we have nothing to lose, keep as we are and we are likely going down. Make a change and we are likely going down but just maybe it gives us a slight chance. Certainly nothing to fear about West Ham and Spurs.

The only manager i can think of with what these players know and to give them half a chance with 4 games left and is currently available, is Ralph, he had a surprise impact in his first few games at Soton before being found out, i'm by no means thinking long term.

He will give the lazy lot a rocket up their arse. If he keeps us up, he's a miracle worker. If we go down, he'd be a great manager for trying to bounce back. Everton thought they were too good for him and look how that turned out. He strikes me as someone who would show a lot of passion as a Leeds manager too. Think it's too late now, but hopefully we keep him in next season.
Most importantly, this confirms Orta's gone, as no way he'd go for Big Sam.
