Of course I think he could be successful with Leeds in the Championship. That's why I mentioned him. But the point is mute. He is not in the mix. And there are multiple rumors that he is in the mix for the Inter Miami job coaching Messi.

Depends on whose odds you look at it could be a three horse race between Farke, Potter & Rodgers.
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

Celtic have held talks with Brendan Rodgers over a return to the club; he is considering various options and could return to Glasgow despite plans to take a break from the game after his Leicester departure.

Who would?
Wouldn't have been mine originally but of the options mentioned it's not even close surely.
Who'd you like of reasonable ideas?

I think you may be underestimating the rigours of The Championship.

Iraola and Knutsen would be in the frame as would be a few names that you have brought up before. It may be that they have better offers but would think at least one of the several you and others have brought up would be interested. For example I can't see why Iraola wouldn't be interested if he was interested a few months ago. Yes we are in a lower divison but if his alternatives are the likes of Almeria then without being disrespectful to Almeira we are a bigger club with more potential. Likely he'd also get a far better contract with us too. If he came to us now he'd be under less pressure and get more time to build a team.

Yeah he'll be weighing up his options between the two clubs, the easier bigger money is with Celtic + CL football against a dogfight in the Championship with Leeds.

So - Farke or Corboren. Personally, I'd go with the latter.
For me the most critical criterion is Championship management experience. Both have it, but I think Corboren may be a better fit for us - given his experience with the club. As you say - for some reason we tend to beat up managers. He'd know what he's getting himself into if he makes the change from WB.

I'd have either of those.weasel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 6:07 pm Iraola and Knutsen would be in the frame as would be a few names that you have brought up before. I don't buy the Championship experience line, many of the most successful Championship managers had 0.
It's just old fashioned thinking and it's easier.
I still firmly believe Angus Kinnear is the big problem here.
He is advising the 49ers and he hasn't a clue about this sort of thing so is targeting the obvious.
I just doesn't make sense to me.
49ers reportedly told Radz to get the best manager we could afford.
So they got Bielsa.
That tallies with Rodgers I'd say.
But none of the others.
If you can afford to get the manager who was one of the highest paid in England last year to sit down for a conversation then logically you can afford similar people?
Not necessarily to take the job but quality Managers from abroad
Like Lucien Favre, Marcelino, Adi Hutter.
Or highly rated up and comers like Iraola and Van Nistelrooy.
There shouldn't need to be the drop off from choice 1 in Rodgers to people like Farke and Parker and bloody Corberan.
There is definitely a middle ground we are ignoring.
That is deliberate and a mistake and disappointing but expected when you have a marketing executive with 0 experience working abroad advising equally Clueless investors 1000s of miles away.

Strongly disagree on the Championship experience part mate.malcolmw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 6:12 pm So - Farke or Corboren. Personally, I'd go with the latter.

Marco Silva, Vincent Kompany, Nuno Esperito Santo had 0.
You just get the best manager you can.
Corberan and Farke aren't that.
If pushed of the two if have Farke.
Just because the style is a better watch and he has atleast achieved something whereas Corberan hasn't.
And CC record at Olympiakos is so so bad that i doubt his ability to handle the pressure here.
Doubt Farke to very much don't rate him.
But of the two if have Farke but its like being asked to choose between which disease you'd like.

Re: Next Manager
You’d have to say the list, if that is really the list is incredibly uninspiring. Seems little effort made to find a real talent. I accept that comes with risk but then I’d prefer that to the knee jerk let’s just make a list from the most obvious failures we can find.

Madness on Rodgers part, why return to a club where you have achieved everything possible and which you left because of a lack of investment, a situation that won’t change because it’s Scottish football. Guess he is after a paid career gap whilst he waits for the first prem sacking.

Look for available coaches last worked Premier league.
Steven Gerrard, Graham Potter and Brenden Rodgers are 3 of the top 7.
If you change it for Championship records of managers with atleast 50 Championship matches managed the top 4 are
Marcelo Bielsa
Sean Dyche
Both with jobs
The next 2?
Scott Parker and Daniel Farke
Our targets could have been made by anyone with WiFi and 5 minutes down the pub

And who is the most recent successful manager.
And was he a left field, who the hell is he, I’ll Google him type for most of us.
We should go for the absolute best “known” manager available or take a chance on the Kompany type. The inbetweeners are the most predictable and boring bunch. Farke, Gerrard, Corberan etc and to some extent Rodgers & Potter is just lazy for me.
