Re: Premiership debate
I rate Kalvin very highly, a class act as a sweeper/DMF excellent reader of the game and transitions so well in possession. We missed him badly and he wasn't replaced

Re: Premiership debate
Kelvin was a mediocre player for us and a red card waiting to happen until Bert came along and he got the best out of Philips. But he is still a mediocre player.

Re: Premiership debate
I think when Bielsas came in , KP was behind Viera in the pecking order. Viera looked the better prospect at that time but the club sold him . I don't think KP was played in the position that Bielsa thought he would be better at prior to that , it was Bielsa that saw him as a defensive midfielder if I remember correctly.....and over the period of a few years turned him from a player maybe worth a few million to a player who might command a fairly huge fee . He hasn't fared well so far at City , game time pretty minimal really and I daresay this season hasn't helped his game , Leeds too have suffered since he went , replaced by an injury prone player in Adams . It hasn't really worked all round . Don't think how if he was still at Leeds it would have changed anything regarding relegation, overall the team and tactics were dire .

Re: Premiership debate
I think KP has been unlucky that Rodri has not got injured or banned and has simply not allowed him the opportunity to get into the City team. Also with City playing catch up for most of the season it isn't like they could play a weakened team. KP might well become similar to Grealish and become a more important player in his second season, it wouldn't surprise me to see Pep come up with a new formation that saw KP more involved and Rodri's role in the team changing allowing him to get further forward. Pep always seems to see things well before fans and pundits do and make changes that seem bafling at first but then make sense.
KP seems to be well liked by the players judging from his role in the celebrations, not really the way a peripheral figure normally celebrates (we're not talking about a comparison to say John Terry lifting the trophy despite not playing the final as Terry had been playing all season). That to me suggests a player that understands what is happening and that whilst he would rather be playing he knows he is a part of somehing. As such I think Pep must have been talking to him and making him feel valued.

Re: Premiership debate
One wonders if we'll see a LIV style takeover of football at some point with a lot of the best players going to the near east to ply their trade..

Re: Premier League Club Threads.
Ruben Neves has left Wolves for Al Hilal in Saudi. Although all clearly money motivated, unlike the other has beens Neves is 26 and at his peak.
Al Hilal share ownership with Newcastle via the state investment fund, so I wonder if some future ( loan?) deal to bypass ffp or to play in the champions league may be somewhere down the line.

Re: Premiership debate
VEry strange. They kept hold of him when it looked completely the wrong choice and almost like they had considered relegation a foregone conclusion and had just decided to keep him till the end of the season and then get ina new manager. He completely exceeded expectations and then they get rid of him.

What a bunch of twats the Bournemouth board are, the cherries were favourites to be relegated, they finish 15th, a point behind West Ham, 2 points Wolves & 5 points from Chelsea.
