Leadership over tactics.
Culture.
Waffle.
I'm far more convinced the 49ers were behind Marsch than I was (at very least wanted him as much as Orta).
Absolute drivel.

Quite a bit.
Nit even sure what it means in this context? Just comes across as executive waffle.
Bet Jesse talked about culture.
Absolutely 100% he did.
Genuinely what's it mean?

I agree the 49'ers were behind Marsch - regardless of their PR waffle at the time.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 6:29 pm https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leed ... r-27155796

It is far too coincidental in my mind that we (suddenly) landed up with an under-qualified US coach, and spent money on 3 US players. (We MAY have bought - or maybe looked at - 1).
Its affirmative action basically ... on the one hand ...."we are just here to provide support and build a great club". On the other hand - "its very important to us that US players/coaches get more opportunities in the PL" (subtext - our chequebook may be reluctant to open fully unless you take the hint.)
How it happened - don't know, dont care now - maybe they just took advantage of Radz misguided leadership of his board. but I am convinced it happened.
I may be cynical - but don't expect it to end, now they have the power.
I'm not quite sure why some people on the forum expert the 49-ers to now suddenly be our saviours. They owned 44% of the club - they're as culpable as anyone.
I am also very nervous that there's been little real outreach to the fans since the deal. Sort of tells me where their perspectives are.
Hope I'm proved wrong - but as a fan since 1968, its up to them to convince me of their motives.
All I hear right now is the Sounds of Silence (and some misdirection).

Re: Next Manager
The real message of the Iraola announcement today is not that he's no longer a prospect for us (was unlikely anyway) - its that Bournemouth sacked their manager and signed a highly regarded one in the blink of an eye.
That says something about our ownership and management.
I don't envy whoever we eventually hire as head coach - with the bumbling that goes on good old HQ - he will be being set up to fail.

OK, I've decided the on-going debate about who our next coach should or shouldn't be, is interesting, but I think its become a bit unproductive.malcolmw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 1:09 am The real message of the Iraola announcement today is not that he's no longer a prospect for us (was unlikely anyway) - its that Bournemouth sacked their manager and signed a highly regarded one in the blink of an eye.

So I'm turning my vast intellectual abilities to other things.
Now you may accuse me that right now this may be like trying to separate the pepper from the flyshit, but I am wondering how some of our partnerships will shake out before end of summer.
Will Adidas still be our kit sponsor or will we suddenly be wearing Nike or New Balance stuff? I notice our new cousins the 49ers themselves are adorned in Nike.
They play in Levi's stadium.
It is Toyota who - via a universe- sized sign welcome you to "today's 49ers game" at gate F?
I hope their silence on talking to the fans - even a little squak would be nice guys - (and don't give me that BS about "the deal isn't done yet" If they had something positive to say, they'd have found a way to say it), is really just that they're busy using their sponsorship creation skills to get us some real f***ing money to rebuild our team in under 2 months.

Re: Next Manager
It does all feel a very paranoid vibe when looking back at managers, signings and delusions. If the paraboia is real, i dread to think. But if i were Bob Bradley, id be keeping an eye on my phone!
Honestly we need to get real and someone like farke is experienced and proven in this league but our owners seem to think by the end of summer we had better have a prem league boss cos we are goung up??? Madness!
I was one of those on Ortas back but this could all go downhill very fast and 17 years of waiting to go back up may seem short.

Yes, it does seem like they actually had a replacement lined up BEFORE they sacked the previous manager. It’s such a crazy idea it just might work.

Re: Next Manager
The prospect of Farke as our new manager is not the right appointment for me. OK so he has some pedigree at getting promoted from the championship. Likewise he has similar pedigree for getting relegated from the premiership.
I just do not see him as a long term appointment, unless the club are ruthless enough to treat him like Bournemouth treated Gary O’Neil.
SA has the pedigree for promotion and staying in the prem. As unpalatable as that sounds I think ( if we are basing the next appointment on previous success ) he would be a better option than Farke if the club are looking beyond this season.
The problem as it currently stands is the apparent lack of credible options.
Corberan is a punt, but all things considered I would not be adverse to his appointment. It would not fill me with confidence as it would be a cross the fingers and toes choice, but he has come close twice with teams not expected to be in the mix.
Add his connection to the club and his knowledge of playing staff -he just seems to be the more logical choice in the absence of the unknown left field option, if there is one.

Didn't work for us when we had Marsch lined up to replace Bielsa well before they sacked Bielsa.Aussieleeds wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 2:58 am Yes, it does seem like they actually had a replacement lined up BEFORE they sacked the previous manager. It’s such a crazy idea it just might work.

Re: Next Manager
SA has not managed in the championship since the 2011/2012 season. Getting West Ham promoted, via the play-offs, is hardly a huge achievement. Before then his last experience in the championship was in the 2001/2002 season. So he has had 1 year of experience in the championship in the last 20 years.DDB220 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 8:03 am The prospect of Farke as our new manager is not the right appointment for me. His record in the premier league of last is relegation with the last 2 clubs he has managed. Albeit you can say the clubs he took over were poor but he did nothing to improve them. 19 points from 25 matches at West Brom so even if replicated over a full season would have comfortably seen them relegated. 1 point from 4 matches with us, 2 matches of which should have been winnable.
If I'd seen any positives during his time in charge of us then maybe I'd have looked past his record. I saw nothing but an old dinosaur coming into the club and saying c'mon lads.

They really are just approaching managers who pop up on Tranfermarkt.com and managers Orta mentioned to Kinnear over lunch
