Yes , Meslier is only 3 inches wide . I can imagine , seriously, Meslier confidence still being shot to bits , and if not , ready to go again at the slightest hint of leaking goals. Best move on from him , he may be good one day....but he could just be he French Joe Hart. An upgrade on Bailey Peacock Farrell definitely, but you got that feeling at the end , or even the past season or more, that Leeds would have to score 3 goals a game to even scrape a draw . In hindsight maybe as a keeper Casillas would have been a better option , I know people don't like him , but maybe overall he would have been safer .Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 9:29 pm According to Wiki, he’s 6ft 3in. In comparison Meslier is 6ft 7in.
Looks to have more about him though, much broader.

I rated Kiko to be fair... erratic at times but that's most goalkeepers these daysClacton White wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 7:21 am Yes , Meslier is only 3 inches wide . Just because the photographer didn't capture Darlow smiling in his picture doesn't mean he isn't happy. Very few of us walk around smiling 24/7....unless your a madman of course and we seemed to have our share on here
And that guy standing to Darlows right has long since grown out of those trousers

Looks to me like he’s asked the girl to his left to marry him, given her some flowers and she’s said no.

I rated Kiko too. Like you say a bit erratic and not the greatest keeper but for me his reading of the game to come out and clear is worth a few goals as it allowed the defence to push up higher which also has the knock on effect of closing down the amount of space the opposition had anywhere on the pitch as our midfield could push up higher too.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 8:21 am I rated Kiko to be fair... erratic at times but that's most goalkeepers these days
Many fans simply hated him after the play-off fiasco despite the fact he was comfortably getting to the ball before the Derby player only for Cooper to intervene and spoon the ball perfectly into the path of the Derby player. November's championship player of the month despite his ban looming.
I think many fans simply doubled down on their hatred of Kiko (and their attempt to justify their blaming of him for the play-offs) by declaring Messlier as the best young keeper ever and simply being blind to the numerous flaws in his game.

Re: Karl Darlow
kiko just made far too many big mistakes - could be great 89 mins of a game, but what does that count for if for one minute of the game you make a howler. He's shown that since at Elche where he started as first choice and lost his place due to making too many mistakesweasel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 9:20 am I rated Kiko too. Meslier was a young keeper who made far fewer mistakes - and mistakes could be justified at that stage as he was so young. Disappointingly he's never cut out those mistakes from his game and has failed to push on really

Re: Karl Darlow
WHen you put it like that then you make it sound like Kiko committed an error per game. I can only think of one actual error, which was against Brentford. There were then maybe 3 or 4 shots where you'd think,' He should have done better.' But that was in something like 50 matches for us. Messlier had several of those moments where I, and others, would think he should have done better, including the Cardiff match which was the first one back after lockdown. For me it was a constant theme with Messlier but cos he was young people thought that he'd simply improve with age. For me there was not much improvement in the 3 years that he was our starting keeper and those moments kept happening and seemed to increase last season.danhirons wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 9:40 am kiko just made far too many big mistakes - could be great 89 mins of a game, but what does that count for if for one minute of the game you make a howler. For me a steady keeper would do better than either of them and hopefully Darlow is that. Kiko was more suited to us though because of being able to play the sweeper keeper, ala Ederson for Man City. Give me Robert Green though any time as he had a great season for us after a shaky start and won over many fans, myself included, who thought he was past his best and error prone.
Re: Karl Darlow
Darlow will have a strength and conditioning based medical as he looks to join Leeds United, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.
Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist said.
“The big difference in his medical will be in the strength and conditioning program, as a keeper has different physical and mental demands than other players, apart from that, the medical for a goalkeeper will be very similar to other positional players at baseline.“

New signing on joining Leeds United.
New Leeds United signing Karl Darlow spoke exclusively to LUTV after joining the club from Newcastle United.
The goalkeeper became the club’s second arrival of the summer transfer window, arriving from St James’ Park.
The experienced shot-stopper, who is a previous Sky Bet Championship winner, admitted he’s looking forward to his new challenge with the Whites.
“It’s really exciting,” said Darlow.
“It’s been in a bit of a whirlwind, I was in America yesterday and signed for Leeds United today!
“I’m delighted to be here, I can’t wait to get started and I’m excited to join the group, start training and I’m looking forward to the new season.
“It’s an exciting move with the new owners who are ambitious, the manager has a track record in this league and is someone I’ve been keen to work with and I want to try and help the club get back to the Premier League as soon as possible.
“No matter what club you are at, there are always going to be good goalkeepers and there is a good goalkeeping group here.
“I want to fit into it and challenge, every single player wants to play and I’m looking forward to the next few years here at Leeds.”
Darlow also admitted he can’t wait to play in front of the Leeds United supporters on home soil!
“When Elland Road is bouncing it’s an intimidating place to come as an away team.
“If we can get the fans behind us, play good and attractive football and win matches, it could be a really special season.
“I’ve just come from one club with fans who are very passionate about their football to another, so it’s something I’m used to and excited to carry on with throughout my career.

Anything north of £20M for Meslier would see us doing well for me.
