Re: Ipswich Town v Leeds United Match Thread
I think the team deserve a lot of credit for keep their nerve in the second half, and battening down the hatches. They were all over us for the first 25 minutes of the second half. Sinisterra's strike absolutely finished them off.

Huh ? If they'd had their shooting boots on they could've also had at least 3 themselves in the first half ?
So tell us which players should've been altered or spoke to for us ?

I celebrated Sini’s goal by putting my head on my wife’s shoulder & saying “thank f… for that”.
Mind you we still had time to mess it up. Funny game in some ways but entertaining though. Ipswich are a really decent side in fairness
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

I think we can rule out Gnonto to Everton now - Btw looking forward to Everton playing my Donny Rovers this week
Wouldn't rule out other clubs coming in with a bid. Probably no Italian teams will be able to put up the price Leeds want. But onviously possibility of a mid table PL side coming in.

Not watched it yet. But it was a tough start for Drameh. First minutes back from injury. Playing out of position. Against a very good atacking team. There's no doubting his ability in this league over the past 2 seasons. But he will probably have to be patient if he's going to stick it out at Leeds. Not sure he's the patient type.Clitheroe White wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 4:13 pm A win is a win. Returning players made a difference. Piroe looks decent. Rutter getting some mojo. Shacks looking lovely. Gray good again. Amapadu solid.
Only black mark for me was dramah. For the record I’ve been one of the people calling for him to start. After today it’s dampened that view BUT he was playing out of position. Needs another chance. However suspect he’ll not react well to being subbed after 20 mins. More drama coming.

Re: Ipswich Town 3-4 Leeds United - Post Match Debate
I thought with just a few additions to our current squad that we could get promoted this season.
This sums it off against promotion candidates on a streak, against Daniel Farke s newly assembled team.
Our stand out players today included Sinisterra, Gnonto, Rodon on loan from the prem are great players in this league perhaps even too good for this league. Summerville who didn't play today is still highly rated by myself and other lufc fans would been a total nightmare against Ipswich had he played.
Totally pleased with what was witnessed today and Could be a major step into the right direction.

Wasn't able to catch the game live. Will wait for the full replay on LUTV.
Reading through all the analysis here.... I'm going to wait for Heidi's blog. She knows what she's talking about.
I'm delighted with:
A win
An away win
A win against the in-form team in the league
Rutter scoring
Gnonto scoring
Piroe scoring
Sini scoring
A team that already looks like it could become a real force this season.
A manager who is focused, humble and in charge.
As to to rest .... just details.
Lots to work on of course - but that's football.

Not watched it yet. But based on comments, seemed the weakness (and strength) was in playing 4 attackers. Sounds like we need an attacking mid to play the 10 role rather than an attacker/winger.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 4:26 pm It's cental mid that is the most important area to strengthen imo. If Willi, Cry, Sini and Rutter stay then we should be easily good enough at the 10... I'd want someone to spell young Archie...
To that I think Summerville is better suited to back tracking than others who played today

I may be doing him a disservice as I didn't see the first half but to me Shackleton always looks like he's giving his all and is proud to wear the shirt. I don't see that from Cody. I have a feeling he won't be a Leeds player this time next week. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 4:32 pm But Shack has had a decent amount of game time so far... Cody not playing for the 21's nor did he see the pitch much in pre season. Much easier to adapt if you have game time under your belt and you're confidence isn't low. Shack didn't really crack the Millwall team last season for whatever reason

Yeah, they 'stood out' all too much in the right and wrong ways, especially 2 of em.Ben Scooby lufc wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 6:19 pm I thought with just a few additions to our current squad that we could get promoted this season.

Re: Ipswich Town v Leeds United Match Thread
Withdrawn at half-time and replaced by Shacks, who was MOTM for me.
The lazy back pass from Drameh led to their second goal.
That's nothing to do with skill, or being rusty, or out of position, it's just poor concentration.
Al of that defence lost concentration at times today, numerous times they were hoping to spring the off side trap and didn't play to the whistle.
Defence improved second half, but needs to improve a lot more. We desperately need a left back.

Re: Ipswich Town v Leeds United Match Thread
You seem to be taking this to heart.
Isn't criticising a manager tactically OK? Of this was Marsch would he not have been criticised for conceding 3 goals and 20 shots at goal?
Farke built his reputation as a high pressing attack minded possession coach.
Not a defensively sound sit back and counter coach.
His teams cant defend, he can't coach them to defend. His Norwich team controlled games so limited chances etc.
But if you read the forum defensively Farke is poor and today that showed.
He set us up not to press but to keep the high line and make the pitch narrow.
So Ipswich had plenty of time to pick long balls over the top and down the sides whilst there man advantage in midfield meant they had an extra runner who was difficult to track when they got wide and cut back.
We won because of our superior players today in attack (that's fine) .
But Farke should go back to what he has had success with.
Press high and keep the ball.
You wouldn't see Neil Warnock telling his team to play like Brighton.
Farke should stick to what he knows.
