Djed Spence - The truth is revealed.

Post by Cjay »

Another one that seems to have genuine interest.

Phil Hay mentioned him today as a deal that is progressing.

23 year old 2 time EFL Championship Team of The Year member.

2022 playoff winner with Nottingham Forest on loan from Middlesbrough which earned him a £20million move to Tottenham.

Spent last season on loan in France at Rennes (with Joe Rodon).

Famously had a falling out with veteran manager Neil Warnock when both were at Middlesbrough with Warnock criticising Spence over his lack of dedication and professionalism.

Spence responded with a jibe at Warnock on twitter after winning promotion.

He is an attacking modern right back.

Known for his love of getting forward using his pace and dribbling skills.

That’s another fantastic highlight reel, why isn’t he already in the premier league? And can ayling cover lb at all?

Per Phil Hay on the BBC's Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast:

“Spence is very much proven in this division, he won’t involved at Spurs from what we can gather this season. Leeds would like him on a season long loan, and if they decide he’s for them and he wants to come I think there’s a high chance that one happens."

“I get the impression it is (seen as a step down), but Leeds are having that thing of being back in the Championship and finding out who wants to play in this division, which isn’t many. But I get the impression that Spence thinks this would be a good move for him and Leeds would certainly take him and they would be very happy to get him through the door.”

No option to buy is a shame as if it goes well Spuds would want a fortune.

But a definite improvement on Ayling and Drameh.

Yay

It begs the question, why are we not linked with a left-back?

That’s a very good question.

Is that young lad from Leicester on loan still being considered?

Didn't realize it before but seems like Rodon and Spence played together during their overlapping loan time at Rennes.

Maybe, came from a Leicester fan, so may have substance.

Pedantry is my middle name.
Recently during golf coverage on SKY Rich Beem pronounced buoy as booey. We say boy. You’d get some funny looks in Cornwall if you wanted to tie your boat up to a booey.

As a lover of language and words, I'm always interested in expanding my knowledge so I appreciate the language lesson. I actually went to college (or university) on the coast in Florida, where we had our own search and rescue (SAR) team manned by college students, so I'm very familiar with the American booey/buoy :)

Let’s get this one across the line. Imagine this will result in a Drameh move. Just need to get more cover in at LB (although Shacks was fantastic there against Ipswich).

Spence has got pace - fancy that a defender with pace.

I think the comments regarding Drameh leaving are probably correct. A few clubs interested by all accounts. Last year of contract - might not be a bad move, although we can only guess as to whether he would commit to a further contract with Leeds if we did want to keep him.

One would think so, one yr left so we may as well get something if he's not signing a new contract. I do think it's an error...
