And he wasn't in the squad for two of our games.

He'll get it right.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 7:54 pm He's very frustrating at times though Andrew, he's obviously been told to run at defenders so it's hard to judge, but sometimes the simple thing is on and he either just doesn't see it, or chooses not to do it, i think it's the former and he's just in his own bubble and has a lack of vision and awareness, perhaps coz his legs are goin a million miles an hour and his heads behind them catching up.
Loved Farke's post match comment about Georgie's fancy footwork. He said, yes that was great but he also has to focus on playing pragmatical (which I assume is German for pragmatic).

Totally agree Kenny.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 5:17 pm Good point Malcolm, you've got to hand it to DF how he shipped out and shipped in in 6 weeks.
But tbh, the way i see it, is it was just all common sense stuff for the style he wants, it's such a relief to me that we've no clown to worry about now in the background.
And another relief that DF as an ex footballer seems to have an eye, along with some common sense, stuff like Sam Byram and Ampadu are complete no brainers, £24m Adams ? £6m Ampadu ?...I'm now seeing which i prefer, besides the money.
I hope i'm right in thinking DF is now pulling ALL the strings and the 49er's are taking a back seat whilst actually working in the background and listening to him, from now till January someone should be looking for any additions they can that might help strengthen his hand, and be talking talking talking to him.
He will now be with them for a full week on the training ground readying for next Saturday, and he will know how many more players he wants to continue covering ALL positions.
The stand out area for improvement is the defence. We are only a couple of injuries or suspensions from unnecessary trouble.
Ayling and Cooper are no longer built for a 46 game campaign, and Shackleton is just not a left back.
Fix this and we have a full squad for the season.

If Rutter threw his shirt into the crowd now how many of the fans would now throw it back in his face?
I thought when that happened to him it must have been the saddest moment in his footballing career.
When I first saw him play shoulders hunched up against the cold and sleeves of his jersey pulled down over his hands, he cast a lost and forlorn figure. The carriage of his body suggested that he was the kid that was picked last for the team. The crowd saw it, and the prevailing view was Orta had made another expensive mistake, and more money had been wasted.
But what a difference a new. manager makes. Now his name is being chanted from the stands. His smile reflects that he has found acceptance. His celebrations with his team mates successes are full of joy and confidence.
Gone are the days of a shivering kid confused both by the coldness of the Yorkshire climate, and the coldness of the fans hard hearts.

Good post Sean, he got a hard time when he arrived some justified some no fault of his own but is enjoying himself now & it shows. I doubt if anyone of us will ever experience the pressure & loneliness of arriving in a strange country & being thrown into a cauldron like ER with the level of frustration evident at that time. Happy for the lad & hope he goes on to be one of the great Leeds players. Maybe The Clown did one good thing after all.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 5:48 am If Rutter threw his shirt into the crowd now how many of the fans would now throw it back in his face?

He will get it right sometimes. If he had consistent end product he would not be playing in the Championship. On his day he can be a match winner with his pace, hence why Manure bought him, but then were happy to off load him.
He sat on the bench alot on loan at Fulham last season also.
At this level his pace is a potent weapon.

Missed the 2nd half - just watched the game.
We played some great stuff.
I think Watford’s changes helped us as they tried to play more positively and it left space which Rutter exploited with mesmerising aplomb at times. He is clearly better at playing from deep if the space is there.
But it is how he plays when other teams gang up on him. We saw this last season with Gnonto - he soon got attention and started to struggle. I would not be surprised if the same happens to Rutter.

Ummm, I think the stumbling attempted shot that fell to Piroe helps his total. I am not taking anything away from him, when he gets it right it is a joy to watch, but he does waste a lot of promising positions and this is why he can sometimes be frustrating. But if he made openings in every passage of play he would be playing top 6 in the prem.
I like his work rate, he always wants the ball and he draws defenders, on that basis despite the odd frustration he is a big player for us.
This is the biggest difference with the squad we now have, there are no players who I perceive to be hiding and only wanting the ball on their own terms.
Not much was said about Cooper yesterday, other than the awkward moment early in the game. I thought he controlled our play from the back extremely well. We appear more patient and savvy in possession. It can look turgid and unappealing at times as the ball moves back and forth between the keeper and our cb’s, but retaining possession and trying to make the opposition actually respond is probably the tactic employed. Losing the ball in needless situations and dangerous areas of the pitch was a huge problem for us last season. It will be interesting to see how we get on when a decent team seeks to press our defence.

I'm sure Orta is crowing somewhere about how right he was in buying Rutter. He needn't bother. He was the wrong purchase, at the wrong time, under the wrong manager. Marsch damn nearly broke the lad through random and illogical use of him and total lack of coaching. Rutter needed Farke to begin to shine, and he'll ensure he keeps his feet on the ground.
Can't wait to see just how good he could actually get to be.

Screenshot it man!!
I had a post like that at Ipswich. Bloody annoying. My Mrs reckons they must be able to make them out of something clear by now. I laughed and then thought actually you can stand on things like that in high rise buildings. Stood on one in Amsterdam, scared the s**t out of me.

Not ST, that's just my preferred spot, I hope always go there but the seat selection dosen't work that way now, if I get in early thats my choice, anything other and you get where they select, yesterday was spent dodging a the pillar
Still better than the ESU though, when I go up there again I'm getting my old parachute out for a LLP.
